a bad product
i will just summarize what i found lacking with this product:
1) shaver ergonomics - one literally needs to shove his stubble INTO the shaving mesh to get a shave. This means that you have to go 'in the opposite direction' of your hair growth to have any impact...that's pretty painful exercise if you ask me , not to mention inconvenient. the shaver will hardly remove a single strand if you sweep it in the beard's direction. So, unless i'm missing something (which is hardly the case as a customer service agent explained to be the whole process - yes,kudos to panasonic for great customer service) , the shaver somewhat fails in its primary purpose itself.
2) trimmer --- same principle applies here...trimmer has to be swept 'in the opposite direction' of hair growth to get a somewhat neat trim.that's doubly painful and itches skin like anything.
no matter you do it dry or with cream , this shaver and trimmer is not at all ergonomic...it is now gathering dust in my shaving kit. a good battery life though, but it hardly matters now!
Good product
The product works fine as a shaver and basic trimmer. A fully charged battery ran upto two shaves with operating tie of about 15 minutes. I guess I could still run on the same charge.
Product quality is very good, works as expected to my needs (light beard). Gives a close shave as well, but need to figure out how best it can work for one's beard. I tried close shave and it worked but have skin irritation, still trying to optimize the usage.

Wonderful Product
Though the product may seem to you a bit pricey but i assure you its a good one. A perfect combination of trimmer+shaver.
You will have to learn to use it though if its your first electronic shaver (like me).
Battery backup is good, i always charge it full and then forget about the charging cord for a week :D
