Panasonic SR WA 10 1 L Rice Cooker

I placed an order for this electric cooker 2 days ago and was surprised it was delivered so quick, with neat packaging.

Why electric cooker? I live away from home and since more than a year have been eating out. I was spending quite a lot of money eating unhealthy food and thought of buying an all in one cooking device which would help me cook and not create too much mess in my small kitchen.

Brand: I chose Panasonic considering it is a very well known brand and the cooker was for just a 1000 bucks...so thought of giving it a shot.

Make: I received the cooker just a few hours back...the cooker is very sturdy & compact, made up of good quality material...the cooking vessel base is non stick. There is a nice little aluminum lid. The best part is that the body has a 2 years and the heater 5 years of warranty. I mean, for a product worth just a 1000 bucks that is a great thing, so kudos Panasonic.

Usage: I am not a chef neither am I a great cook...but I guess we all know how to cook basic stuff like dal, rice, stir fry veggies etc... I was able to cook a delicious dal & rice just a while back using some basic ingredients and the dish came out pretty nicely...it is very easy to use!!

Savings: I spend at least 6-8k every month on food...even if I cook 3 meals in a week using this cooker I will save at least 2000 rupees every month.

Bottom-line: This is a solid product from Panasonic, I hope it will work at least for a year. Every kitchen should have it!!

Rice gets cooked properly and functiona normally.On the flip side,the rice goes below the cooking plate after cooking.So,the rice gets stuck to the vessel and it is difficult to clean.
Also,There is no keep warm Function nor any auto cook function.The summary of the product is wrong.I had a lot better experience with my black and decker cooker-no sticking and keep warm was present

I purchased this product on June 22, 2012.
I got this cooker within 2 days with great packing. I dont know why other people didnt like this cooker.
One guy wrote that the rice is sticking to the cooker but it is not like that. According to me, if you pour proper water it won't stick.
Advantages of taking this cooker:
1. 5 years warranty and 2 years guarentee.
2. Easy to clean.
3. Price is very cheap.
4. "No warm option" means automatically it will shut off. No more power consumption and rice will not get roasted. This one can be considered as an advantage.
Disadvantages:
1. The rice will be sufficient for four people only.

For bachealors, newly married couple and students this one is a awesome and wonderful product.

The cooker cooks. That's about it. If you live alone and don't mind somewhat mushy/overcooked rice (or can't tell the difference anyway), you should be ok with this.
The mushy rice is a catch-22 situation. If you put the right amount of water, the rice doesn't cook properly or worse, sticks to the bottom (there's a thick layer burnt at the bottom). If you put more water, the rice doesn't stick of course but it's mushy and starchy at the end.

The main reason I went for this cooker was because of its low price. I have a pressure pan that I prefer over this, and I now use this cooker as a backup.

I have been using rice cookers for almost a decade now but this one is pretty complicated. If you try to follow the rice cooking instructions that is! The first two times I tried to do it by the book, and all I got was burnt rice. Then finally I decided that enough was enough and switched to cooking rice that way I have been always doing - wash and soak the rice for 20 mins, then put it in the vessel with the amount of water I think is right and not what that stupid manual said. The result? Well cooked rice just the way it should be. And yes, keep that damn plate aside. It's seriously no good.
