Parker Frontier Matte Black (Gold Nib) GT Fountain Pen

The Product: I have been using fountain pens for quite some years now and own a wide variety of them, ranging from Sheaffers, Parkers, Watermans, Lamys and also handful of Chinese ones, and believe me this pen ranks very highly. The contoured body, understated yet elegant black matte finish with the iconic golden Parker arrow clip makes the pen look regally beautiful. With the golden plated nib gliding over paper, writing with the pen has been a joy in itself. In spite of the metal body the weight of the pen is just right for extended durations of writing. And at this price, definitely a valuable bargain. Fountain pen lovers don't think twice before ordering, as for others its a great way to start your love affair with fountain pens.
The service: Had ordered the pen on Saturday and received it on Tuesday. More than satisfied with the Flipkart service .

Well,first of all i am sorry that i could not buy this product from flipkart.This was because i was hanged between the confusion of a fine and a medium nib grade.I tried flipkart support but this time they did not provide any help.Some one picked up my phone call and assured that he would be back with all details regarding the nib grade.Well,i am still waiting for his call,after i have already written with the pen over one month!!!So i could not buy this product from flipkart this time though i was greatly willing to do that.

however,now for the product.I have purchased this from one of the very reputed shops.The nib grade is fine.I am using parker quink black ink.Its not very black,but quite watery and provide excellent flow.

After using the product over one month...here are my list of the pros and cons about the product.

PROS: 1.Look-- All of us watch the look of most of the things before we dig into its quality.So regarding the look,this pen is quiet handsome.It has elegance blended with modern feel.Put the cap on its back and write with premium style and you are assured to catch a lot of admiring glances.

2.Feel-- the grip section is made up of somewhat different material and provide excellent grip even when you are sweating heavily by tension during an exam...!!!

3.Performance-- The key feature of this pen.Initially the nib was scratchy and the flow was not even close to smooth.But don't
be afraid.Quality may take some time to be expressed.This is true for the pen.After i wrote some 50 a4 pages and roughly scribbled some 5 a4 shits and finished the converter for 6 times,the nib started to show its quality.:-)
Now it simply glides over the paper and i can not express the joy of writing with it.Use it in any serious professional task and rest assured,it will not disappoint you.
The clip of the pen is rock solid.It will not be detached from your pocket regardless your movement.The cap also provide a firm
lock with the barrel.

CONS:Not to say much.Still some points are listed.
1.The converter runs out of ink quickly.(I mean when compared to a vector.)

2.when you put the cap on the back,no click sound is there to assure you that it is firmly placed.

3.I don't know but it seems that the rubberized material of the barrel which gives it the matte finish can be scraped out a bit by the brass of the cap when you put it on the back.

That's all what i can say about this pen.i am quiet impressed by it and love it.I Will continue to use it for a few upcoming years until i get a better option.

Before i finish this long review,i would like to advise that if you want to buy this pen,make sure you are accustomed to Fountain Pens.To me,this is not a product intended to be used by the beginners.First grab some other cheap pens and make yourself
comfortable with fountain pens and then give this pen a try.You will end up with a surprisingly pleasant writing experience along with almost calligraphic writing style.

THE NIB OF THIS PEN IS EXCELLENT.I WAS NOT MUCH COMFORTABLE USING FOUNTAIN PENS EARLIER.AFTER USING THIS PEN I AM KIND OF GETTING ADDICTED WRITING WITH IT.THE NIB IS "GOLD PLATED" & NOT MADE OF GOLD.IT IS VERY SMOOTH THOUGH AND WRITING WITH IT SO FAR HAS BEEN A SHEER PLEASURE.I RECOMMEND EVERY ONE WHO USES THIS PEN TO USE ONLY PARKER QUINK INK FOR THIS PEN FOR BETTER RESULTS.I SUGGEST FLIPKART TO PUT UP PARKER PEN ACCESORIES IN THEIR STORE AS WELL.THE NIB IS PERHAPS ONE OF THE SMOOTHEST I HAVE USED SO FAR.THE GOLDEN COLOURED SHIRT CLIP ALONGWITH THE BLACK BODY GIVES IT AN ARISTOCRAT LOOK,AND AT THIS PRICE ITS A STEAL.LASTLY THE FLIPKART DELIVERY AS USUAL WAS EXCELLENT AND BEFORE THE PROMISED TIME AS USUAL.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FLIPKART......

That I bought this pen doesn't necessarily make this the best piece of writing equipment ever. So exaggerations aside there are some basic points that must be noted (based upon a month's usage)

Firstly the pen is quite solidly built, mostly a moulded frame that is unlikely to crack or come apart even with a moderate amount of rough handling. Used with care it's sure to last for a pretty long time.

The nib reveals itself over a period of time. Initially might appear hard and a bit scratchy but don't write it off and don't jump to conclusions. Keep writing....use heavily.....give it some time and watch it improve into something different altogether. A couple of weeks and everything feels just right.....the nib and the rest of the pen do what's expected and do it pretty well.

This particular model comes with the Converter system for ink refilling which is pretty basic and quite easy to use. A cartridge can be manipulated to fit the pen in place of the converter but it's always better to stick to the "factory settings". Converter works just fine. Works best with Parker's ink "Quink" which is also readily available. Flipkart doesn't stock "Quink", so that has to be sourced from elsewhere....however Faber Castell inks work just fine.

This pen in spite of the gold trimmings and classy look is just not meant to be a decorative trophy pen for occasional use. This is meant to be a pen for regular everyday use, and for proper performance this pen should be made to write decent amounts regularly (daily if possible). So those looking for a breast pocket showpiece which rarely gets anything to write.....sorry, this isn't the one.

Overall a decent pen.....a workhorse that needs to be kept busy. Performs to the best of a Parker's ability.....at this price (Flipkart's price), is definitely a safe bet. "

I received my Fountain pen and am I DELIGHTED ? YIPPEEEE - I am going to write all day today.

What a delight to receive the Fountain pen by courier a few minutes ago (less than 48 hours after ordering that too because 1st May, yesterday was a public holiday and couriers were not delivering). Awesome service FLIPKART - you ROCK guys. This quality of service is better than any even my friends in the developed countries experience. Flipkart has really changed the game in online purchases and delivery, not to mention quality.

Talking about quality, well what should I say. The packing was just right - as always - goods packed so that they are delivered in the manner they should be - in one piece, without any damage.

The Pen itself is like music in my hands. I feel a rush of adrenalin and joy when I hold it. It has a nice matte finish, so it feels secure in my hand. It has the right weight (not too flimsy and not to heavy - just right). The finish and product quality is as good as any (oh by the way, I am a proud owner of a couple of Waterman fountain pens), and I must say that the Parker pen does not feel inferior in any way.

If there is one small wish I would make to Flipkart folks, that would be - why don't you guys bundle in (for extra charge if you wish) - at least one black and one blue ink cartridges ? That way, we can get started as soon as the pen arrives.
