Description

This book comprehensively covers the topics that are essential for preparing for the quantitative aptitude section of the Common Admission Test (CAT) and other MBA exams.

Summary Of The Book

The Quantitative Aptitude section is an important part of many competitive exams, especially in entrance exams for management institutes. The Quantitative Aptitude section tests the numerical and mathematical skills of the candidate. This book focuses on this part of the Common Admission Test (CAT) and explains all the relevant concepts clearly, along with examples and solved problems.

The book begins with an introduction to number systems and a chapter on Vedic Mathematics. The Vedic Mathematics section provides techniques that can be used to cut down on the time needed to perform various complex calculations.

The Arithmetic section covers percentages, averages, profit and loss, discount, ratio, proportion, time and work, and time, speed and distance. The Higher Mathematics section covers algebra, sequences and series, functions, maxima, minima and graphs, logarithms, probability, and permutations and combinations.

The book also covers geometry, mensuration, set theory, and managerial decision making. The Test Your Mettle part contains four review papers with hints and solutions for select questions. The final part contains solved previous papers, from the year 2003 to 2008.

The book covers the topics in a manner that is relevant to the Common Admission Test. It has a benchmarking test that covers all the topics in the book. The Pearson Guide To Quantitative Aptitude For The CAT contains more than 3000 problems with hints and solutions. Each chapter has sets of practice exercises in four levels of difficulty - warm up, foundation, moderate, and advanced. Hints and solutions are provided for select questions.

The book even covers some unconventional topics like calendars and derivations in the number system.

Its a decent quant just like others. It has a detail synopsis although a few examples would have helped a lot.For NUMBER SYSTEM CHAPTER you might want 2 buy DEMYSTIFYING NUMBER SYSTEM which is again by Nishit himslf. He covers the chapter better in that book. All in All a NYC book.My rating is 4/5

one for all ..........

this is a very good book I found for Q.A. for competitive exams. I was disappointed when I read Arun Sharma's book but this book explain almost all the topics. The part I liked is the distribution of the exercises based on the difficulty level. If one wants to go for only bank PO & CETs; just go through initial two or three stages of exercises; but If you want to excel more go to the next levels. I would rate it 4/5 ........

worth for money

i brought this book as per the reviews that people wrote about it and moreover arun sharma quant book showing so many errors and printing mistakes.the theory descriptions are very good but not the complete. for complete theory understanding ncert books from std9-12 should be followed. this book's weakest point is that it does not provide solutions to many exercises but only to a few exercises and problems.it is infact a good buy and but at the start you should follow quantum cat only then mov...
