Pelikan Budget Version.

The Pelican Grand Prix seems to be a promotional product for the newer markets targeted at the more youth-fully choice'd demography of customers. Given it's looks and build it seems like a regular day to day usage Fountain Pen for light writings. For a habituated Fountain Pen user like myself its best suited for light writings i.e. for example - 'writing groceries list or likewise' or 'making appointments'. Personally for me I would not bank on a light weight pen such as this for intended heavy content based writings like journals or exams etc. The build quality and workmanship is best said... ()

The build quality and workmanship is best said as OK or in one case(in comparison to Indian local brands) even as Good. However they have 'NOT' compromised on the Nib quality and it's definitely a 'Smooth write*' (which according to my *self built classification system of nib quality gradation, this is one below the best that I nomenclatured as 'Silk-write'). (Though I believe that after certain amount of writing most nibs in the world become 'Silk write', depending on how much must be written for the nib to wear out to achieve an amount of smoothness enough to make it as good as any other). Having generalized that condition & personal opinion, the Medium nib is very good( a very good in my books is a 3.5-4 star) out of the box . I mean other than the Brand value, the nib is the only reason that I purchased it for. If you are a dot/roller pen user and are making a shift to the world of fountain pens this could be one of your 2nd Pens...or for that matter for light writings even the primary weapon of choice. After all the Pen is mightier than the Sword.

Happy Scribbling!.
