Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian (Paperback) Price: Rs.245

Most people get presents on their sixteenth birthday. I get a prophecy that could save or destroy the world.

That's how it is when you're the son of Poseidon, God of the Sea. According to an ancient prophecy, bad things will happen when I turn sixteen - because I'm the one who gets to decide the fate of the entire world. But no pressure.

This is the one where Kronos, Lord of the Titans, is beginning his attack on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Oh, and the dreaded (and not to mention enormous) monster Typhon is also heading our way. So it's me and forty of my demigod friends versus untold evil . . .

Beats Deathly Hallows

I read Deathly Hallows in about more than a week. This one took longer. Not because the book is longer (its not), but its way better. This one exceeds all expectations and completely blows us away! It reads like a superb summer blockbuster and probably is one of the greatest Greek hero stories of all time, this one is, somewhat better than the Harry Potter series.

A Great Ending to A Great Franchise.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Last Olympian, belongs to a category of its own. The novel beautifully blends together genres such as Action/ Adventure, Romance, Tragedy, Family, and Faith, and presents some strikingly intriguing philosophical thoughts.

On top of this, its got its author, who does such a stunning work at understanding the adolescent psyche, that it doesn't go without saying that this book deserves its high sales.

There are sardonic portrayals; such as those of the fates, as well as bright and valiant ones, such as that of Percy Jackson. Not to mention, its got enough romantic tension to qualify as a better Romance-Novel than Twilight.

Anyway, I'm 15 years old, and I can really relate with the character of the protagonist. I think that's something Mr. Riordan intended; that every male reader would find similar traits in the male protagonist; Jackson, while every female reader would find the same in the female protagonist; Annabeth Chase.

I hope this was helpful, and that you're planning on buying this book, because, if you don't, I can guarantee you... You're missing out on a classic-to-be. :)

Battle for Olympus who could the last Olympian be?

Percy Jackson and last Olympian.
Publisher Puffin
ISBN 978-0-141-34008-1
I invite all of you to guess who the last Olympian is, before you read the book and why. Please add it as comments.
Though not woven around any particular myth. It explores a variety of them.
To an adult reader probably the weakest of the books. But for the teenager it is definitely action packed. Hordes of monsters, lots of strategies.
The Olympian Hestia is honoured.
Prometheus makes an appearance.
But the author talks of a lot interesting concepts. Some of which that I really liked was,
Hope in the Pandora’s Box is holding to hope, when you let it go, you are not releasing it for world betterment but giving up hope.
Hope survives best at home and hearth.
Achilles heel more than an anatomic weakness it is the weakness of our psyche too.
Nemesis is more of the goddess of maintains balance than revenge.
A good read. It does leave greed more.

This one will blow you away.........

I read the book in just 1 & a half day, so you can imagine how hard it was for me to put it down. It was way better than the previous 4 books not only because its fast-paced but also dripped in humour & wit. I have become a hardcore fan of Rick Riordan. I simply cant wait to read the spin-off series. Who would have thought such a fantastic world can be created out of Greek myths.

I wish there was an Indian author who could write a novel involving Indian myths.......

The grand finale

What is it about the last book in every series that makes them awesome?

Deathly Hallows was epic, The Last Battle as well... [exception to the rule - Breaking Dawn; but then Twilight was trash from the start... made me wonder why I bought it in the first place.]

And now, The Last Olympian continues with the-last-book-is-cool tradition. Rick Riordan makes sure we're kept on the edge of our seats, breathlessly awaiting the next event in Percy's demigod life.

There are all ingredients - the action, Percy sarcasm, humour, romance, tragedy.... so keep your seatbelts on, because you're in for one heck of a ride. PJO rules!
