Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief Film tie-in ed Edition (Paperback) Price: Rs.259

Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a Greek god.

I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. That's when things started really going wrong. Now I spend my time fighting with swords, battling monsters with my friends and generally trying to stay alive.

This is the one where Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks I've stolen his lightning bolt - and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea.

Go for a better DEAL!!

Don't buy this one, this single book costs Rs 209 whereas you get a full set of 3 books (Percy Jackson Collection) at Rs 389. The collection includes:

1) Percy Jackson : The Lightning Thief
2) Percy Jackson : The Sea of Monsters
3) Percy Jackson : The Titan's Curse

I didn't see it earlier and now regret it after buying a single book @209…

PERCY JACKSON

Percy Jackson is a 12-year-old boy with Dyslexia and ADHD, and he has been expelled from four schools, the last being Yancy Academy. Sally, Percy’s mother, takes Percy on a trip to Long Island to get him away from his stepfather who mistreats him.

Percy is attacked by a former teacher, Mrs. Dodds, who is revealed to be one of the Furies who are out to kill Percy. Sally and Percy are soon joined by Grover Underwood, Percy’s closest friend from Yancy Academy. Sally takes the children to Camp Half-Blood, a camp for Demigods.
There, Percy is put in the Hermes cabin in the charge of Counsellor Luke Castellan. During a game, the Ares cabin attacks Percy. But Percy is healed on entering the waters of a nearby river. Soon revelations follow regarding the relationship between Percy and Poseidon.

Meanwhile, the Bolt of Zeus is stolen and Percy is accused of stealing it by Zeus. Percy is accompanied by his friends Grover and Annabeth.
They eventually reach Hades’ palace after encountering many hassles on the way. There, Hades accuses Percy of stealing his Helm of Darkness. Percy now has to find the helm as well as the bolt. The story further reveals the following. Will Percy be successful in finding both the bolt and helm? If Percy is innocent, who is the actual thief?
IT IS AWESOME

I'd buy the next title in the series

Firstly, Flipkart's service and delivery absolutely spot on. So, thank you Flipkart.

The target audience for the book seems to be pre-teen, and teen-aged kids. But, that doesn't mean an adult would not enjoy it.

The only reason I bought the book, was that I am intrigued by Greek Gods, and mythology. And to say that I was disappointed is an understatement. The plot is very predictable, and at times lacklustre. I believe a good book has to have an exemplary protagonist, and unfortunately Percy Jackson does not fit the bill. Moreover I was hoping for a book more mature than a Harry Potter-esque goose chase. Unfortunately, it ended up being just that.

Although I did not like the book as much as I wanted to, I would definitely not deem it as worthless. I did enjoy bits and pieces of it. And secretly hope, that Percy would become a hero of some kind. As somebody who likes the genre, I would recommend this book for readers who like Fantasy. I would definitely order the next title in the series, but will I remember this book for a very long time? I doubt it.

Unputdownable book!

This book's a great way of introducing Greek myths in an interesting manner to anyone who wants to know more about them. Written in an amazingly simple language, with elements of fun and humor, Rick Riordan fills the reader with the yearning to keep reading!

I loved the plot, the characters, the simple way everything proceeded and the emotions enthused within the pages. Some reviews say there are similarities between this book and the Harry Potter series and I guess that's kind of true, but that cannot be held against it in any way. The similarities are just minor and there are a million other things that are unique to the series. I know I'm going to read every other book in the series too! :D
