Philips BDP2600/94 Blu Ray Player

First Time user of Flipkart -very good serviice like it .

Nice blu ray player at the price point .
Pros
Upscaling of Non blu ray disk good .
Excellent loading time of disks .
Simple menu for use .
Auto HDMI detection -actually works .
Good Picture Quality and sound .

Cons :
Remote keys are very small -you need very careful to press the right key .
No Front display .
No Component out or AV Out .So people without option of HDMI stay away from this player .

Nice to have :
Support for browsing Youtube etc .

I got this Player delivered to me in less than 48 Hours.
The Player was in proper condition. I Really like the Service of FlipKart.

Coming to player i never expected DVD player will play the mkv file format.
It was really Awesome as many HD movies are in mkv format.

This is a basic player with no frills (not even a front LED display), hence less problems too.
I tested 24 blurays on this player (BDP 2600) and all except one played without any issues. The only one which did not play was "Megamind" bluray where it failed miserably, hanging completely and needed to recycle power.
This is actually my second bluray player. My first was a Sony BDP370 which broke after 1 1/2 years of usage. Sony was charging > 5K for fixing it (the optical unit had failed).
I would say , except for one bluray disc,as played much better than Sony, flawless interface with my Harman Karden AVR system. Sony player had many issues interfacing with my AVR, and I had to use 1080i format to get it working.
The video and audio quality was quite good(after making some changes in the default settings, eg audio to PCM stream)
The built quality however was questionable from the looks of it. Philips gives only 6 months warranty on its DVD players (as against 1 year for Sony). I hope the player works in the long run!

This player has played everything I have thrown at it till date. This guy plays videos/pictures in any format/container without breaking a sweat. Sound output is crisp.

However, what you need to be aware of is that it has got only 1 HDMI port and one coaxial for sound. Now this doesn't sound like a problem for many, but if there is someone out there with an old home-theater/sound system, you have had it as there is no analog. I use a projector for my movies and the projector doesn't have any sound out... so the HDMI connects to the projector and Coaxial to my speakers. Luckily my receiver has one co-axial only and that worked for me.

Other than connectivity options being an issue (though workable).. this is a beast of a player at a very impressive price.

Pros:

1) This dvd player played all the formats (All the ones that I had).
2) I had read reviews on the remote control's small buttons but found it usable, atleast not like totally disappointing or unusable.
3) This DVD player has LAN support and options to do software update. This is good enough instead of connecting over WiFi which is slow compared to direct LAN connection.
4) Flipkart shipped it within 3 days and the customer support is very good.
5) The price is Rs.500/- to Rs.700/- cheaper than other Consumer Electronics showroom and door delivery which was nicely packed.

Cons:

1) Philips always lacked that "audio" clarity and sound effect. But compared to other features this is minor and my LED TV can amplify and hide this. There is this Flipkart combo that gives speakers along with this bluray player which I feel is a good option.
