Philips Citrus Press HR2775 Juicer

Recently purchased the Philips citrus juicer HR2775 on 13th April2012 through Flipkart. Placing the order was a cakewalk and the product literally arrived the next day on 14th of April. Although I had some issues with the inside packaging of the product but the issue was resolved within 24 hours by Flipkart and they even offered me a replacement. Now that’s what I call is customer service .Hence full marks to Flipkart for very good customer service.
Now regarding the juicer I would like to enlist the pros and cons use.
Pros
1)The juicer is light and the 1 liter jar is handy unlike the HR2774 having 0.5 liter capacity therefore not requiring periodic transfer of juice after extraction of juice .
2) The pulp strainer is good and can be adjusted for pulpy to smooth with very little fibers.
3)Easy to clean.
4)The juice is not at all bitter because the seeds don’t get crushed and except for tiny baby seeds, bigger seeds can’t pass through the strainer.
4)The juicer performs satisfactorily for its price.

Cons
1)The quality of plastic is ok. Powerful suction cups should be provided at the bottom of the juicer for better grip. The whole juicer tends to slip during extraction of juice.
2)Some tiny baby seeds can pass through the strainer, when the strainer is kept open fully.
3)When the strainer is closed fully you get a smooth juice with very little fibers the pulp gets collected on the top of the strainer and you need to squeeze the pulp with your hand before throwing it away as it contains a few drops of juice and also if the limes are not juicy and are too fibrous some drops of juice are left behind in the core (since the rotation of the motor is a bit slow and if you tend to press the fruit hard the rotation stops) and requires a manual squeeze with your hand to extract the last drop of juice from the inner core. Hence the extraction of juice can get quite messy sometimes.
4)Though the assembly of the juicer is quite easy the assembly fits loosely. The strainer as well as the jar placed on top of the motor loses its grip during extraction and also the dust cover fits loosely on top.
5)On pressing the fruit hard in the downward direction on the cone, especially during extraction of juice from the inner core of fruits like Orange or Lime, the cone slips even though the motor is rotating .The meshing of the cone with the vertical pole connecting the motor could have been more well designed and sturdier in order to prevent slippage.
6)The motor sometimes makes a grumbling noise which gets noisy and irritating and is more evident during the anticlockwise rotation and also when the fruit is pressed hard in the downward direction especially during extraction of juice from the inner core of fruits like Orange or Lime. .

7)A lot of time is required to extract the juice.It took approximately 3 minutes to extract 2and half oranges to obtain one glass of juice and it took approx 8 minutes to extract 2 and half limes to obtain one glass of lime juice. Imagine doing this for a family of four , then it would take approximately 35 to 40 minutes to exract four glass of juice since the juicer should not be run continuously for more than 10 minutes as mentioned in the manual.

8)The arm and palm of the hand also started aching after extracting 4 glasses of juice .Hence the whole experience becomes tiring and boring.
9)The juicer is strictly ok to extract Orange juice or maximum 2 glasses of Lime juice especially when time is a constrain. It took almost 12 minutes to extract 4 glass of orange juice. I cannot imagine extracting juice when I have guests over as the whole process is time consuming, tiring and it also gets messy when extracting large quantity of juice. Hence this juicer is only for those people who has patience and lot of time to kill.
10)If it had a powerful motor having a faster rotation it would save lot of time and enhance the whole experience and make the product a hit among customers. A powerful motor should be launched in the market as an option.

I Hope the folks at Philips are listening and by improving on all the cons launch a citrus juicer with a more powerful, silent and a faster motor.
You can find videos of citrus juicer similar to this on youtube and get a rough idea before making a final decision. Before I forget I would like to mention inspite of all the cons my neighbor also went ahead and bought this juicer after using my juicer. Hence I would conclude that if you want a bitter free juice and have a little patience and do not want to step out of the house frequently especially in the scorching summer to have one nice glass of juice then this product is worth it.

I got this product today and found that we can make only orange and mosambi juice from this one. Extra you can make lemon juice from this small product.

i purchased it from flip-kart. The product seems to be made for children only, tray and roller gets jams, don't look money for this product go with some high value juicer.

Got this product today. I tried Sweet lime juice. The blades are not wide enough to penetrate through the pulp so I was not very happy, but since my purpose of getting its juice (seedless) was fulfilled, I am happy.
I am very happy about this products is the way it juice lemons. You cant squeeze perfectly like how this machine does! (he reason is that the blades for this is wide and sharp!) you can make lemon juice (seedless, no need to filter again. ) within no time. Starting your day with a glass of lemon juice (free of salt/sugar) is the best way!! Totally, I am happy about this product.
