Philips DVP3868GX/94 DVD Player

We cannot rely on philips. I purchased one Philips Hometheater 6 years back. It is having 3 DVD changer, and 6 months back it started giving trouble as showing no disc, whenever you insert cd/dvd in any of the three slots. I contaced philips service centre service centre (omsai electronics, wanworie, pune) initially they said it is repairable and would cost around 1500. then after 1 week they said it cant be repaired and asked me to buy a dvd player and attach to it. then after complaining this directly philips service engineer mr sanket, they agreed to repair it with changing the cd lens and they took Rs.3000 from me for it, after a day again it failed. then on my complaint to mr ganesh area manager of philips they suggested me to give it to philips service centre in chinchwad pune. they repaired it and gave, but after 6 months again it is failed with showing the error no disc. Initially philips dealers and philips were not ready to take the complaint as they said it is an obselete model. mind that after we invest Rs.15-18000 for our personal use, these people say it is obselete model and part is not available, it is horrible, not reliable.

This is one of the the best dvd players available in the market. absolutely smooth and effortless playback on virtually any disc!!!!
Some of the below users have complained about this product not having an HDMI out.
Friends, please be informed that you don't need HDMI but just purchase a component(YPbPr) cable, connect to your HDTV and turn on the "progressive scan' feature in the DVD player. you will get HD picture with resolutions:480p,576p,720p,1080i & 1080p(full HD TV) In fact, for DVD, component will give you a smoother picture than HDMI!

Pros:
1. Audio quality is excellent.
2. It comes with game controller wireless response is good (only kids can use those games - not for adults)

Cons:
The product has some issue in detecting HardDrive in the USB, some time USB detects HDD at the first attempt.. some time you may have to try for 10 to 20 times.... otherwise.. just switch it off and On and keep try... surely it will detect your harddrive in 20 to 30 minutes....

but i do not have time to wait to see move for 30 mints so i connect HDD to computer and seeing movies...
(One of my other Philips player connects this HDD with out any issues, that is the reason i bought Philips again but this one gives issue)

I recommend this product if you are going to use without using USB.

Using this product for sometime and going through, seem to be good. The clarity of low quality videos seem very much better than my old china player. Yet to test high quality divx and others. I hope it will work. The games that come with this are for timepass. Do not expect too much in gaming, but for sure good timepass with sudoku and other games.
@Ajith this player does not have HDMI port, then how come it is for LCD TV alone ? It can work with AV cable in both traditional and LCD TVs, giving better quality video even from low quality video downloaded from web.

I ordered this player last Saturday and received on Monday. Great service from Flipkart as usual. The player looks very compact, stylish, light weight & supporting almost all formats. Playing DVDs smoothly. I tried to play scratched DVD's and found it is perfectly playing. The gaming console & Maths based game CD is good. My daughter is very much impressed and spending time with this in this summer vocation. Recommending this player to every one. Don't invest huge on electronic devises. Soon we can get Blue RAY players at this price tag.
