Philips GC1980 Iron

Using this Steam Iron from Philips for about 6-7 months now on almost every day for 2-3 times.

PROS
•With its 1750W power consumption, Steam Iron is ready to use at full heat if required within 20-25 seconds.

•The soleplate is excellent and moves very smoothly over fabric. Accidentally tried to Iron a nylon cloth on high temperature resulting in cloth getting burnt and got stuck to the soleplate. Just had to wipe the soleplate with wet cloth and the soleplate was clean.

•Light weight and good ergonomics makes Ironing easy. Narrow tip is very useful for Ironing in narrow places.

•The steam feature is really good with option of continuous low/high steam. The steam burst is powerful to remove stubborn stains and water spray is good with fine spray.

•The self clean option is good and using it regularly keeps the Steam Iron’s soleplate clean from dirt that gets collected in holes on the soleplate.

CONS
•The power cord is short (1.8m) making it little inconvenient.

•The water capacity is less compared to my previous Morphy Richards. At high continuous steam the tank is empty after ironing 3-5 shirts.

Overall Excellent Product.

This is by far one of the best steam irons available. Easy to use, easy to clean, very comfortable grip, great features, specially the vertical steam function which comes handy for blazers. The golden sole plate never sticks to any type of fabric. This iron is a bit heavy which adds to its usefulness as you don't have to put extra pressure to remove tough wrinkles and the tip of plate reaches every corner of the clothes. Power cord is long enough, I don't count it in cons, and so is the capacity of the water tank. Some people might find it expensive and there are other irons also with less price but I preferred this one bcos of its vertical steam function. It definitely is worth the price. Use it and you will come to know.

And Flipkart...I dont know why you mention as "delivered in 2-4 business days" when you always deliver it in 1 day??? Amazing service...

It has been almost 3 and half months since I bought this iron. I have been using it daily. Before this iron I used to hate, hate ironing. I just didn't care about the wrinkles on my shirt.

This iron totally changed my opinion about ironing. This is mainly because of its quality design and its power. You can get crease less areas with just single swipe. I use it at it maximum setting with steam on. The iron is very slightly on the heavier side, but we need it due to its high power and heating capacity. Its steam function is awesome on cotton clothes without which we cannot get good crease less areas. The first time I actually saw good solid pressed cotton was after using this iron.

I was slightly hesitant to buy and iron for this price but this thing has changed the way I feel about ironing and also my looks.

No need to write anything regarding flipkart service. They are always superb in service and will be.

Product is really good. I had a Black and Decker one previously, but the sole plate went bad, and fabrics start sticking to it. Finally the coils burnt and I didn't want to got for repair, but to replace.

Philips is always been a leader in Steam Iron market in India. So I opted no other.
Pros-
- Continuous steam as well as steam burst feature.
- Nice design, lightweight and wide water inlet opening.
- Rubberised grip for handle for easy holding.
Cons -
- Water tank capacity is less. Needs frequest re-filling of water, if you are pressing 2-3 pairs of dresses with continuous steam.
- Cord length is short. Need Ironing stand just beneath the power outlet.

Overall, nice product and I am satisfied with it.

After reading the most positive reviews on flipkart, i decided to get this product. The delivery was super fast ,just took a day to deliver.Thanks flipkart.

About the product, it is really good and gets heated quickly. For people wearing cotton dresses , you can buy this product without second thoughts (it removes creases from crumpled cotton kurtas instantly with dry option itself and in steam option it is excellent). The cons of this product is power cord is a bit shorter,it didnt have the plastic beaker for pouring water and the cost (but its worth it, instead of spending 25Rs per salwar set and not getting pressed properly ,we shall go for this product, it took only 2 mins to press my cotton salwar set).
