Philips HD2566/79 Pop Up Toaster

Pros:
1) Looks good .. good build
2) Has a nice top cover

Cons:
1) A standard bread slice wont get toasted at the top edge
2) The 'plunger' wont slide down sometimes .. gets stuck .
3) The wire /cable is too short
4) Controls are clumsy ..

I've been using this toaster now for about three months and i'm highly satisfied with it..
Great quality of toasting...
Also the special Crumb tray is a revolutionary new concept. Also Top cover making the toaster clean and hygienic..
The mesh given inside guarantees equal browning of bread...
Although I live alone but it always comes in handy when im hungry.....
A must for bachelors....and for good mornings too...
Highly recommended..

Here are the cons I can add:

the slider button broke after three days of use: the plastic quality of the switches is terrible.

It's very difficult to get a nice brown toast: you either have it slightly rare or burnt. Philips: please work on the temperature control knob.

dust cover isn't a snug fit so certain small insects and dust do find their way inside.

plastic handles of the grill look/feel like they'll melt away.

bread slice isn't squeezed so only one side stays in contact with the heating elements. (unless it's a very fat slice of bread).

Top part of slice remains untoasted/rare as mentioned by Invictus.

Overall, a disappointment from Philips. Can't make a toaster, even? Meh.

This toaster from Philips does not seem to be a great buy. First obvious drawback is that no LED indication of whether power is on or not. The original plug melted after 5-6 months of usage. We put in a local one ourselves. All controls on the side which make it difficult to operate. The temp setting, manual pop up button etc should be front facing. While I am not sure how long these products should last with proper care, but mine seem to stuttering now after an year and half of mild usage (4-6 toasts of bread almost everyday on average). The plunger wont work, it just keeps popping up. I have a good mind to write to Philips as well, as thats all I can do since warranty is up. The only good thing is the top lid cover which is a novel idea and very practical.

My first toaster was a Braun one . A small compact one . It was nowhere available in Store and eStores also. When I go to street shops, they push the model and brand of their choice. Then moving from shop to shop is not my way of patience. I started at Flipkart and the choice range was so huge that more confusion started. Hence started with customer's review. Got more confused in the perhaps even to the one that I would have bought . Then decided on pure Brand credibility. Phillips came effortlessly. When it came in prompt home delivered, it is really sleek with l wide opening from bread slot. Did not care for the cheaper price option. I am very happy on this model
