Philips HD4909 Induction Cook Top

This induction cooktop looks good and has a number of useful features. There is a slight delay in tactile feedback; or on occasions, you need to press a bit hard on supposedly 'feature touch' buttons. The manual is unattractive; no recipe books are included. For those using such a product for the first time, the lack of a good beginner's guide is indeed regrettable. The outer build is entirely plastic an it's all white: which means, it can easily become discoloured. The plastic feels kind of cheap. Make sure you get your free gift. I have not purchased this product, but just wanted others to know that you need Iron Utensils for cooking on induction cookware.

In general, if a magnet attracts to the bottom of the cookware, it can be used on a induction cooktop. Aluminum, glass, ceramic, copper are not suitable for induction. Cast iron and SOME stainless steels are good. Carry a small magnet when shopping for induction cookware. The manufacturers will often state "induction ready" or similar wording on the packaging

Delivery Related problem: It took 11 days to deliver the product! Thought it was supposed to reach by 19th Nov 2012. 'I guess it happens sometimes.'

Pros:
Elegant looking product, Feels Sturdy and Durable, 2100 Watts Power, User Manual (Hard copy provided), Touch Screen Button, good quality glass top, no worries of getting electrocuted (it has no metal parts on its body) and FREE Frying Pan.

Cons:
Power cord length is not too long, No Cookbooks provided, Body is made up of white plastic - thought tough and sturdy but may become discolored, touch controls could be improved, poor online product support, warranty card not filled but the invoice can be used for warranty purpose, little humming noise all the time (your ears will get accustomed to them after some use) from the fans (all Induction Cook tops have this drawback).
#The Frying Pan (FREE) had one screw missing for attaching its handle.

I would strongly recommend this product. It has the most consistent reviews on Flipkart until now.

P.S. It is highly recommended to buy a set of Induction Cookware to utilize this product to its maximum potential. One can also use 'ANY' steel/ stainless steel/ iron/ enamel cast iron utensils. Aluminum, copper or glass cookware will not work unless they have a layer on the bottom with magnetic properties.

This is my second induction cooktop and I have been happy with both. The first one was a borrowed westinghouse unit which I used for a few months. I have been using this for a few months now.

I looked around quite a bit and all the cooktops are in the same ballpark in terms of price and features. This is a Philips brand and had the highest watt range. Also it came with a free induction cooking utensil which made it a no brainer.

One point to consider when buying is to prefer touch buttons. That results in the entire surface being flush flat which means one single wet cloth wipe cleans it all. The push buttons accumulate some grime which takes an extra minute to clean. Not a big difference, something to keep in mind.

Giving it 4* because I wanted a dual plate, but there are very few in the market.
