Know before to buy
Before writing my review I would like thanks to flipkart for its service.
I bought this Philips HTS5530/55 before 8 months from Philips showroom.
Sound of this HT is excellent but features are outdated.
1) It doesn’t support HD Videos.
As Philips says this HT gives 1080p output but it is not build to play 720p and 1080p videos.
2) It supports only divx ultra codes.
So u cannot play mkv, mpeg1, mpeg2, mp4 files. In know day mobile phones can handle above video formats. And also some 22” LCD TV can handle these codes and 1080p HD video bravely.
3) It supports "digital coaxial in" but lake of “optical S/PDIF in”.
Commonly found that latest products have above both features for better audio performance.
4) This HT has capability to access 160 GB USB FAT32 storage. But user interface is very bad to access such a big storage space.
5) You cannot create song play list and also do not have random play.
This HT is not for that person who really wants HD Picture and sound quality.
No issue for me......
I have been using this HTS for last 1 1/2 year but faced no such problem ......as my Smart TV supports all the video formats the HTS doesn't.
As concerned with the lag of optical audio In port, you can compromise with connecting it via the standard analogue cables(red/white) but it will automatically convert the signal(stereo) into surround sound as it has got the Dolby Digital Pro Logic II.
My Experience-
Pros-
1)Beats a 1 Lakh HTS (Bose) with the powerful sound.
2) Sub-woofer technology is very good (wall firing surround).
3)Speaker cables are the longest in this price point.
4)Lots of Inputs...
5)metal grills on speakers...
Cons-
1)Lack of Video support (but not a matter with me)
2)No audio return via HDMI cable.
3)Remote control range is not good.
4)Price decreasing day-by-day (makes me sad, I bought it for 18000/-)
Conclusion-
If you are looking forward to buy a HTS under 15000/-, this one is the best , don't go for LG and Sony(at this price),but considering the cons you can wait as Philips plans to launch a new range of improved HTS in the coming months.

i just brought this H.T and i m happy to select this one again sony....this h,t has very good sound quality rather then sony...if you are think to buy this one then go for it....flipcart has help me to choose this product....my review for this h.t is good,
