Philips SHP2700 Headphone

I ordered this headphones on 28th of August 2011 , as this was my first transaction with flipkart so i hesitated a bit to place my order. As promised my order was delivered on 2nd of September. I was happy with the service and was quiet amazed to see the fine packing . I live in a remote area of orissa but thankfully the courier network was in my town !

Now coming to the product ... I tested this headphones playing Counter Strike 1.6 on steam and i can rate this 7.5/10 .. the sound quality was sharp and clear but distant noises were blurry .

this headphone is Excellent for watching movies and Listening to songs !! (9/10 for this)

And 10/10 for flipkart for such pleasant service !

The headphones are great for their price range. The audio clarity is quite high. I have used earphones with hoops as well as with bands. This particular model sits around your ear and that is so comfortable - esp with glasses. The set is bulky (I am not kidding) but not heavy or uncomfortable. It looks bulky more than anything else but there are bigger monsters than this - its relative.

The sound quality is good at low and high volumes. Though personally I preferred the performance at lower volumes. There was a slight difference - could be because of the kind of music I was testing it with!

The movable parts make squeaky sounds if you move your head. Not often but it reminds you that you have headphones on :-)

Pros: Good audio quality, value for money, comfortable, good fit, sturdy, long wire.

Cons: The long wire - It works both ways!. Bulky - there is no way on earth you can go running with these (Maybe you could but I wouldn't)

For this price, the headset is a good bargain. I'd recommend it to a friend.

I bought this headphone a couple of months ago. Believe me, no other headphone at this price can come even close to this. Ok lets come to its sound quality. People who have never used this kind of headphone (large, around the ear type) but only in-ear headphone (IEM) like Philips shh3570/3580 or Creative ep-630, you will feel a bit disappointed with its sound signature at the biginning. Cause you won't get the same amount of low frequency bass (10-40hz) where you have the feeling of pressure on your ear drums. Its not possible mostly because large headphones need much more power to drive. And they don't get the same level of isolation either. So its not fair to compare headphones of this kind with IEMs to begin with. But after you have listened to around 10-40 hours of music on this, you will see improvements in its bass response and overall sound signature. At first the sound seems to be coming from a small driver having less impact but slowly it improves and you starts feeling the size of the sound increase. This headphone's comfort is really great. Doesn't at all heats up your ears. And listening to music on this seems more realistic with controlled sound signature. No colouration whatsoever. Bass: As i said, its lows have less pressure. But its Bass impact like Booms, Thunders and Blasts really shakes your head. Its bass is very pleasant and warm. Nothing gets washed out. Mids: Very well balanced. Not less and not more. Sound reproduction is exactly as its supposed to be. It doesn't get affected by the bass or the treble. Treble: Simple CLEAR. Not over saturated nor recessed. So, this is a neutral sounding headphone which reproduces the music as its been recorded in the studio. Cons: Soundstage is not good. Expensive headphone gives a feeling of aireness i.e the sound seems to come from far away instead of your headphones. But in this headphone one can feel that the music is coming from just one point on each ear. But considering the fact that the above mentioned effect is produced only in headphones over 5000Rs, i think i shouldn't really complain."

just recieved my set of shp2700..a bit delayed but worth it..it is THE ONE for the music freak.. the highs and the lows are quite up to the mark.moreover working on the equilizer for around 5min gave the the perfect sound i wanted..the bass is already so cool that i can not believe that its gonna get more refined after i "burn-in" them..bass is very nice and reverberant..31HZ frequency in the equilizer had never been listened to by me..but in these headfones u can easily feel it..clarity is pretty good..i also have shp2500 but the peak volume on those is very low..but its not the case with these coz of the neodymium magnet..noise isolation works great..overall 9/10

I was searching for good headphone under Rs. 1000 for last 5-6 months but could not find. But on 01-Oct-2011, i opened flipkart and again try find some new models. I opened Philips SHP2700 page and read its review. After reviewing some other feedbacks I ordered Immediately.

I got the quick delivery from flipkart today at 1:10 PM at my office address.
Unpacked it and found swivel headphone with amazing sound which is hard to find at this price.

My manager also tried heavy metal and some natural sound on it and found awesome.

I am gonna try it on my Laptop with Dolby sound. lets see how it performs. I am sure it will not disappoint. :)
