Worthy Buying

I have always been a fan of parker pen. This was my first Pierre Cardin fountain pen. Unlike the picture where the pen looks slim, it is exactly the opposite and looks a bit fatty. The nib is undoubtedly the best (believe me the best) and is very smooth when you write. The pen comes with 4 ink cartridge and a converter cartridge. The design is very elegant and looks stylish. Definitely a buy

AN ECONOMICAL MONTBLANC...;)!!!

Well,well,well...friends,as the title says,it really is that!!!:)

Now let me get this straight....the design of this pen is simply taken from a Montblanc Meisterstuck 149/146...:).The same cap design, the same barrel design(just a little blunter to say),the same nib design and even the same trim placement!!!What remained not to be taken,hmm???;).....It really looks like a Montblanc, just without that famous star emblem on the top the cap that symbolizes the Montblanc brand..:) (For obvious reasons, you see, pierre cardin can not copy that...;)but who cares:))

However, enough introduction, now lets get into the business and lets give a review of THIS pen,(not of a Montblanc;)!!)

1.BUILD QUALITY:4/5

Very solidly built. The barrel is made of solid metal. The section, too,is pretty solid(though i assume its not metal). The cap is solid and fits to the barrel with a very pleasant 'click',indicating a good quality. As a whole the construction of this pen is very solid at its core. Now,the reason i gave it '4' instead of '5',is the quality of the black lacquer and gold plating.Clearly that is cheap.I can feel that those things wont last a long time and will bring down the beauty of the pen to the ground over time. But,i mean,at this price, you should not really expect for more.Even a Montblanc Meisterstuck gives you a warranty of only 2 years after taking some 45k from you!!!So for a pen of some mere 300/400 rupees,I hope you got enough logic now..:)

DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS:4.5/5

Its a replica of Montblanc,so there is no doubt that its very ergonomic.:).You should find great comfort while using it.For me,this is a moderately weighing pen(because i am accustomed to use some seriously heavy Sheaffers;)),but those who use ultra lightweight pens,(An Agni gel pen worth rs.2/3,just for example)may find this a bit heavy at the beginning. But rest assured, after a bit of getting used to it,you will love this ergonomics.PLEASE NOTE,THIS IS NOT A PEN FOR FAST WRITING IN EXAMS,BUT AN EXCELLENT COMPANION FOR A BIT SLOWER SESSIONS.
The design is what i call, pure classical. This may not suit everyone's taste, but i love this design.

NIB AND PERFORMANCE:5/5

Simply, excellent. You should not really expect anything more at this price level. The nib is very very smooth and has some buttery feel to it which only very expensive pens offer.I really congrats pierre cardin for making such a nib at this price point.Clearly they just did not copy the looks, but, did manage to carry out a good portion of the performance too!!!This is really great. The ink flow is almost consistent and the nib lays down moderately wet medium lines. No bleeding,no feathering and no skipping. What more?

CONCLUSION:

A classic pen at an affordable price.A must have for fountain pen lovers and for those ones who want to take a plunge into the immersive world of fountain pens.:)

Thank you.

Awesome Pen.........

This pen is quite brilliant on the move.........when i first wrote ,it was writing like a water flowing from a tap.this pen really great,awesome,fantastic,amazing,etc;...........

The nib reveals itself over a period of time. Initially might appear hard and a bit scratchy but don't write it off and don't jump to conclusions. Keep writing....use heavily.....give it some time and watch it improve into something different altogether. A couple of weeks and everything feels just right.....the nib and the rest of the pen do what's expected and do it pretty well.

This particular model comes with the Converter system for ink refilling which is pretty basic and quite easy to use. A cartridge can be manipulated to fit the pen in place of the converter but it's always better to stick to the "factory settings". Converter works just fine. Works best with Parker's ink "Quink" which is also readily available. Flipkart doesn't stock "Quink", so that has to be sourced from elsewhere....however Faber Castell inks work just fine.

A Total Review...

To start with, FlipKart once again managed to deliver the product in the best of conditions within the stipulated time. That's a great work.

The Pen: It is big no doubt (as shown in the pic), but its not bulky. Actually the barrel of the pen is heavy, the rest of the body is light. The body is a total black and has a shine all over it. It comes in a beautiful silver box (probably tin), with a see-through fiber on it.

The Nib: It isn't mentioned here, so I would let you know that it's of Medium grade, and is made of iridium.

Accessories: You'll get a small converter inside the pen. Also, 4 ink cartridges (small) with blue ink.

Performance: The flow is nice and continuous. Since the nib is of medium grade at times you'll feel that the writing is a bit thickened, but no big deal actually. I have several Parkers (a few of them much costlier than this), this writes better than them, but cannot compare with better brands like Lamy, Pelikan, etc.

Conclusion: At this price, the performance it gives, its a definite "buy"... No regrets!!!

Good For Bulk Writing

I am fountain pen lover and use it regularly. When my Rudy Kellner Blue Diamond had been picked up from my pocket, I had to find a new one. I choose Pierre Cardin Masterpiece as my new writing companion among from other two local and two global brands. At first sight, three features compelled me to do so. First, it has an elegant traditional look. Second, its excellent body weight that reminded me of my Rudy. I always found it delightful to write with a weighty pen; especially when I had to write massively. It is like playing cricket with a heavy bat, if you are apt to. Third and the most important point for choosing this pen is its Nib. In fact, quality of Nib stands for the only criterion for choosing a fountain pen. Pierre Cardin Masterpiece comes with medium point Iridium Nib. Iridium nib and still nib have hell and heaven difference and the former is the heaven among the class. It is absurd purchasing still nib for thousand or more rupees instead of purchasing iridium nib at Rs. 380. My old Rudy was German and Pierre Cardin is French in breed. Now India is manufacturing these pens under their brand names. However, Rudy and Pierre Cardin are still keen about their nib.

I am using the pen about four months. For first two days writing was not that much smoother. Afterwards it became an exquisite experience. Writing is thick, almost like Rudy Kellner. Writing needs good quality paper that ensure not soaking of the ink. I prefer Parker Quink black ink as it cleans the pen as it flows. Many market available inks leave sediment on the nib causes erosion.

Though, the body has excellent weight, colors might fade in course of time. However, Pierre Cardin Masterpiece is one of the best among those fountain pens I have used last thirty years.

I love it!

1. Expectation: The image on the website, makes the pen look much thinner than what it is in actual. Also it looks like a dark blue colored pen in the picture but in actual its black (shiny). However I still loved it when I got the first look of it after the unpacking. Flipkart might want to re-capture the image properly, since it is also a little blurred and not a good resolution picture.

2. Look and Feel: The pen has a sturdy and heavy feel when lifted. It definately makes you realise the good quality of material used to make it. The nib is silver and golden in color, long and wide giving it a very antique and classy look. Looks like a piece of art to me.

3. Writing: I bought this pen after reading the previous comments by other users about the quality of writing and I must say I am not at all dissatisfied. The pen is extremely smooth to write with. I am using the pen with the ink cartridge and for the first few seconds it takes time for the writing trail to become constant and not leave inkless trails. However this is common with all pens when you start using them with a cartridge. If you load the ink from the front, then of course you will not face this problem. The writing quality is totally at par with even a high priced pen. I bought a Parker frontier matte black pen with golden nib for Rs. 495 earlier from flipkart and it is nowhere near in comparison to the writing quality of this pen.

4. Extras: The pen comes with 4 complementary cartridges and of course with the refillable pull ink type cartridge. It is packed in a silver grey matte metal box.

Overall an excellent pen and highly recommended.

Elegance Redefined Economically !!

The Pen is naturally a very close look alike to the Mont' Blanc Meisterstuck Model 146 (and not the 149 as mentioned earlier in some reviews). In reality it is closest to the Meisterstuck Mozart due to the extra golden ring near the grip something missing from the 149/146 models. The feel and weight is almost also similar excepting a bit on the slim side (only in comparison to the Mont' Blanc versions) but otherwise it's a whole lot of fountain pen to handle for a first timer, generally speaking. The build quality is sturdy for the price of the pen. Actually a little better for the price, looks very classy. A lot of positive reviews of the pen chanced me to the decision to buy it. I take a little pride in considering me-self somewhat of an amateur Fountain Pen Collector/ Connoisseur within my limits and capacity( now numbering my collection at a reduced 50 +, earlier 200,now most gifted/given away ), and I can tell you folks who have a general understanding of fountain pens (i.e. those who have used only fountain pens all their life - especially in India and are used to locally made/available products), that this pen meets all that has been positively described before this review as immaculate in their description and detailing. The pen is new but given my experience I think the nib would fairly quickly smooth-en out to be a very genuine 'Silk-write', and equaling if not out-rightly surpassing some of the the standard Pelikan, Lamy, Schnieder, Parker and a few other notable Models that I have. it's a medium Nib but is better than some of the international and bigger brands with much higher price ranges with their medium nibs quality of 'Smooth-Write'. I am happy both with the look and style and feel and most important writing quality. However since this is made in India my only complaint - that the manufacturing 'workmanship' quality suffers as most made in India stuff do in comparison. (There is a rub-off in the middle section of the gold polish of my brand new pen cap, but it could be a one off case). Also it is true that the color of the pen and the gold polish will eventually start to show fading with use and that's the two reasons for me to have rated it at 4/5. But for the good value for money at this price range I would rate it a 5.

Happy Scribbling !

Is this an over-hyped PEN ? Maybe.

OK, first look on the pen.If you are a fountain lover what strike the mind is Oh! it just looks like a MB 146. Tonnes of reviews for this this pen makes buying irresistible. And it really is a poor cousin of MB 146.

Keeping it simple.+++++++Now the scores++++++++++

Package 4/5 : Comes with everything you need to get started. Pen, window tin
box, cartridge & a converter.

Body 3/5 : Made of Brass.Looks good, cigar-shaped. Unrefined finish,
less durable. Not recommended for office use.

Section 3/5 : Looks wonderful. Made of plastic. Threads getting corroded
every time I unscrew it.

Nib 4/5 : Over hyped nib, but looks beautiful. Not the best nib, but works
right out of the box. Smooth, no skipping. Medium nib but tends
to be on the broader side.

Feed 3/5 : Chinese design. No.4.

Barrel 3/5 : Metal, nothing spectacular.

Cap 2/5 : Poor design, unrefined and scratches the section when I snap it out.

Converter 2/5 : Very cheap. No balls inside to break the Surface tension.

Cartridge 2/5 : Unsaturated ink, faded looks.

Better Pens at this price: Parker vector and Frontier, both metallic.

WHAT I FEEL ABOUT THIS PEN ?

A Chinese pen MADE IN INDIA.

About Pierre Cardian Masterpiece Fountain Pen

Been using this pen for about one month.I want to tell about only one thing about this pen(other things are already told in reviews). And that is about its weight. The pen weights about 28 grans. First time it felt really heave for me but after a time of usage i found this as one of its good point only. And the funny thing is it gives a different experience of writing with or without keeping the cap at its end. For both the cases it gives a difference balance but believe me, both the cases the pleasure of writing is same. This definitely shows that how much R & D they might have done to design such a good writing instrument. It is also a very smooth fountain pen. And i think a person who is fond of writing with fountain pen must have this pen in his collection.

Coming to flipkart service i should not say anything. This is not my first purchase from flipkart and everytime the product was delivered within the specified date. Good Job Flipkart!!

Semi flex nib surprise!

I purchased this pen after reading the numerous positive reviews of the pen and at 370₹, how wrong could I be!

I opened the box and was pleasantly surprised that it included standard international cartridges and a cartridge converter.. All looking Good so far, I took a good look at the nib and then there was a problem, the nib tines were out of alignment right out of box.

After fiddling with nib tines for some time, I was able to bring them back in alignment, then I also noticed that there was some rust on the nib, the pen wasn't looking so good now.. Adding to my woe was the fact that the section was way more broader that what was shown in the photo.

After being thoroughly disheartened, I inked up the pen and put it to the paper and I got the biggest surprise.. THE NIB IS SEMI FLEX! A slight amount of pressure opens it up which is great for a pen of this price range.. The nib surely isn't smooth though, I can't compare it with my Lamy or Parker, isn't very scratchy either there is some feedback while writing. The feed is also able to keep up so no skipping either.

Over all it is decent, just don't believe that the pen is as slim as shown in the picture.
