Set in colonised India, these stories date back to the late nineteenth century. The characters are transplanted Englishmen and their families who came to India during the Raj and lived and died here.


Born in Bombay in 1865, Rudyard Kipling went to England to finish his studies and came back and lived in India for several years. He wrote a number of poems and tales, establishing himself as a writer of repute. In 1907 he became the first ever English writer to win the Nobel prize for literature.
