Planet Earth - The Complete Series

Planet Earth is a spectacular natural world documentary series from BBC and consists of 11 episodes along with a making-of-featurette for each episode called 'Planet Earth Diaries'. The DVD set also includes a companion 3-part series called 'Planet Earth - The Future' which deals with the environmental and conservation issues raised by the series. The series is wonderfully shot with stunning visuals complemented by a superb narration from David Attenborough. Each episode follows a neatly selected storyline and covers a wide variety of wildlife and nature. This is truly a groundbreaking series and is definitely notches above the ones we see in Discovery or National Geographic channels. Very much recommended.

The DVD set contains 5 DVDs and it is region free. The cinematography does make one wonder, as did an earlier reviewer, how much more stunning the series would be on Blu-ray. However the Blu-ray edition is not released in India; if you want to purchase the Blu-ray, it will have to be imported.

Kudos to Flipkart, I got the product in 2 days flat with excellent packing.

A friend of mine informed my about this Planet Earth series by BBC last year but I forgot about that. Early this month, from nowhere I recollected about this & I was about to get that shipped from US when I decided to check it on Flipkart & whoa, I was happy to see it here for Rs.976/- only which was far cheaper than getting it from US. Immediately ordered it.

Though I have not seen all the DVDs as yet (got couple of days back), the ones which I saw really was awesome. Excellent photography, mind blowing image captures, out the mind locations................ despite being regular viewer of National Geo Channel & Discovery from my school days, this was something which I had never seen. And being in HD, the quality was simply superb.

I just wish Flipkart to come out with Blue-Ray version of these as well which are compatible with Blue-Ray players in India.

I am also planning to order 'Life', which one can consider as Part 2 of Planet Earth series.

This is a must buy & should be in a collection of all those who are interested in the beauty of our mother nature :)

* PS:- Blue Ray discs ordered from abroad may not necessarily run on blue ray players available in India. I have Sony Blue Ray Home Theatre system, yet avoid buying the disc from abroad. Before ordering Blue Ray discs, kindly confirm whether they are India compatible. In this case, better to opt for regular DVD on which recording is done using HD cam.

Planet Earth by BBC is a masterpiece. If you appreciate beauty and nature in its awe inspiring glory, this one is for you.

Stunning visuals in high definition that range from sweeping aerial shots to intimate close ups, excellent audio (Dolby Digital) and a great narration by Sir David Attenborough make this a pleasurable experience that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

All elements of planet earth and every patch of nature of significance on the face of Earth is detailed here. The deserts of Africa, the oceans, the tropical rain forests, the loft mountains are just a few of them.

Rare footage of Snow Leopard and courtship rituals of Birds of Paradise are a treat for the well informed nature lover.

Planet Earth is a must have for everyone along with Life and Blue Planet (also by BBC).

Unfortunately, I did not buy this from Flipkart. It about 400 lesser than the price I got it at!! But its a excellent purchase , with exceptional quality filming. I watched the series on our new LED TV and the scenes were amazing.

Wonder how much better a blu-ray would have been!!

I recently bought this dvd from flipkart. True to earlier reviews and ratings, this 5 dvd collection is superb. Rare photo shoot and par excellent cinematography makes it a must collection item.
The commentory of David Attebborough is superb. In totality this series is a must for every nature lover. I am so much impressed with this series that I have ordered for another series of BBC i.e. Life. I am looking forward to experience it too.
