After nearly fifteen years in a childless marriage, Michael Brace and his beautiful wife, Suzanne, live separate lives in the same house. Suzanne has crippling headaches, and she's haunted by childhood memories of her father, visions of violence. Michael sleeps on the couch, hides in the shadows of his wealthy family, and thinks about the novel he always wanted to write.
