The field of electrical engineering has three main divisions—electronics, power, and control. Power Electronics is a discipline that combines these three divisions. Power Electronics is the application of solid state electronic switching circuits to control the flow of electrical energy. This is the technology that drives power converters, inverters, switching power supplies, and motor drives and soft starters. Since the last three decades, the field of power electronics has been evolving rapidly. Starting with conventional thyristor devices, the book traces all the advancements in the field. The book starts with an overview of power electronics systems, the principles and characteristics of thyristors, gate triggering circuits, and series and parallel operations of thyristors. Then, the book progresses to modern power semiconductor devices, phase controlled converters, dual converters, choppers, and inverters. It also covers cyclo-inverters, A.C. Regulators, resonant converters, protection, cooling and mounting of thyristors, control of A.C and D.C drivers, and thyristor applications. The book also includes nearly 397 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), 501 review questions, 194 solved problems, and 104 unsolved problems. The book’s companion website provides computer simulation examples of power electronics circuits.
Dr. M.D. Singh is the former principal of Laxmi Narayan College of Technology in Bhopal. He has been involved in research and teaching in the field of power electronics, satellite communications, and TV systems for over 40 years. Dr. K.B. Khanchandani is a professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication at SSGM College of Engineering in Shegaon. He has nearly two decades of research and teaching experience in the field of power electronics.

MUST HAVE IT.....Every student from electronics, electronics and telecommunications, electrical and instrumentation engineering student should have this book. Its gives a complete and detailed information about the power devices and bridge circuits as well as AC and DC drive controls.

Worst Book Total Waste of MoneyPlease do not buy this book I have one copy, this book has many printing mistakes especially in waveforms which makes it very difficult to understand the concepts. Also the book has little or no practical significance which is very bad if you want to design something.

nothing can easy as this..power electronics mostly considered to be toughest subjects by engineering student, but this book make it a easy piece cake.. books deals with the topics in systematic matter.. provides enough examples .. the book worth buying specially by new learner and power electronics phobics.. best book in the market.. after finishing the book you will definitely feel the difference in your towards the PE. ... and it is also vary cheap....!!!!
