This third edition consists of a number of newly added chapters, based on the recent advancements in the field of medicine.

There are 18 chapters in this book, and some of them include Diseases Of The Cardiovascular System, Nutritional Factors In Disease, Diseases Due To Infections, Endocrine And Metabolic Diseases, Genetics And Diseases, Diseases Of Blood, and Disease Of The Skin. Some other chapters include Psychiatry, Diseases Of The Liver And Biliary System, Immunological Factors In Disease, Diseases Of The Gastrointestinal System, Diseases Of The Nervous System, Oncology, Diseases Of The Kidneys And Genitourinary System, and Acute Poisoning And Environmental Emergencies.

Almost all chapters have been revised by adding new topics, and the presentation of this book is in the form of questions and answers. This pattern is also followed by examiners when it comes to framing questions. This edition contains a brief guide into ECGs, and intervention techniques, which are utilized extensively for diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. In the chapter on Cancer, the author has also dealt with the genetics of cancer, complications of cancer therapy, principles of cancer therapy, and supportive therapy in cancer patients. The author has also included flowcharts in certain chapters based on electrolyte and acid-base disturbances, which make it easier for the reader to grasp important concepts.

Through the course of this book, the readers are also updated on the latest anti-epileptic drugs, newer methods of MRI for diagnosing strokes, and advancements in stroke management. The new chapters in this edition include cutaneous manifestations of systemic diseases, skin examination, and primary immunodeficiency diseases. In this book, the readers are also informed about including clinical decision pathways for conditions such as chest pain, headache, solitary pulmonary nodule, and deep vein thrombosis. The author has also updated the chapter on infectious diseases by adding two topics, which include H1N1 influenza, and XDR tuberculosis, while further elaborating on MDR tuberculosis. The author has made use of diagrams, boxes, and tables, which help the readers grasp concepts better.
