Premchand Ki Sarvashreshta Kahaniyan, published in 2004 by Diamond Pocket Books (P) Ltd., is a collection of the best short stories written by the well-known Hindi-Urdu writer Premchand. This 160 page book contains some of the best short stories ever written in Hindi literature. The book has 15 sections overall.
Premchand was the pseudonym used by an Indian novelist whose real name was Dhanpat Rai. This famous writer was born in 1880 in Benaras. He is credited with writing more than a dozen popular novels and 250 short stories. Renowned filmmaker Satyajit Ray adapted Premchand’s short story, Shatranj Ke Khiladi and his novel, Sadgati into movies. Premchand translated several popular literary masterpieces written in other foreign languages into Hindi. His stories and writing style touched upon issues that were prevalent in the Indian society at that time, such as poverty, dowry system, feudalism, prostitution, and the Indian freedom struggle against the British colonial rule. Some of his famous short stories include Duniya Ka Sabse Anmol Ratan, Ishwariya Nyaya, Namak Ka Daroga, and Kafan. His novel Soz-e-Watan was banned by the British government during the colonial period because of its patriotic content. He died in 1936.

AS this was wriiten by the great munshi prem chand g but i was bored by a few stories coz i think that stories dont hv no moral but some of the stories that i hv read, were of emotionlly attachment nd found it very intersting like DO BAIL ,IDGAAH, LAAG DAANT WRITTRN DELIBERATELY nd being a punjabi it is very difficult to read proper hindi nd to know its exact meaning nd i hv read at snail pace but everyone must go for writers coz they r one of the best treasure that we have nd they can only be rememberd by reading their writings

IT IS A GOOD BOOK BUT LANGUAGE USED IS NOT ORIGINAL AND THE PRICE IS SLIGHTLY HIGH. I RECCOMEND TO BUY FROM RETAIL WHERE ONE CAN GET THE SAME BOOK AT LOWER PRICE. HOWEVER THE BOOK WAS BRAND NEW AND ITS CONDITION WAS VERY GOOD.
