N. Krishna Raju graduated with a degree in engineering from the University of Mysore. He later earned an MSc in Engineering from the University of Madras and his Ph.D from the University of Leeds, UK. He has numerous published papers in technical journals. He has held teaching positions in many prominent technical institutes like the College of Engineering in Guindy, Chennai, IISc, the REC in Surathkal and the Lanchester College of Technology in UK. He is a member of the Institution of Engineers (India) and the Institution of Structural Engineers, London. The recognition he has received includes the Sir Bowen Memorial Prize and the Birla Super Endowment Award. He is now the Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore.
