Pride and Prejudice is a novel of manners, a satire of 18th century England and a story of the love between Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet.
Summary of the Book
Elizabeth Bennet is the second of five daughters of an English country gentleman. Unused to social situations and the graces of the gentry, Elizabeth attends a ball where she meets Fitzwilliam Darcy, a man who acts condescending towards her and towards the ball in general. Eventually, chance puts her in Darcy's path several times, and she discovers that Mr. Darcy isn't all that bad after all.
About Jane Austen
Jane Austen was an English novelist, best remembered for her works of romance literature. She has also written: Emma, Persuasion, Mansfield Park, and Sense and Sensibility.
The current title was adapted into several films, most notably in 1940 starring Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier, and in 2005 starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.
