  • Description

This novel, The Princess Diaries, revolves around the life of Mia Thermopolis, who is an average girl from Greenwich Village, who becomes aware of the fact that she is actually the heir to the throne of Genovia.

    Summary Of The Book

The Princess Diaries is about how the life of a regular student changed overnight and how she dealt with the changes. Mia Thermopolis is just another average ninth-grader, who has a huge crush on one of her seniors, Josh Richter, and has trouble with algebra. Living in Greenwich Village along with her single mom, who is quite famous for her paintings, she becomes aware of certain things about her father. During her father’s visit, she is enlightened by the fact that he’s actually a prince of a small country, named Genovia.

Being the only heir to the throne, Mia Thermopolis, comes to know that she’s actually the crown princess of Genovia. Being just an average city girl, she gets terrified upon hearing this news, and examines herself to find that she’s not princess-material. To add to her troubles, news reporters’ start stalking her at school. In addition to that, Mia’s algebra teacher is dating her mom. She has a burst-up with her best friend Lily, due to her popularity at school, which causes them to distance themselves from one-another.

In the meantime, Mia begins to learn the act of conducting herself as a princess in her hotel room, and she begins to get better by the day. She also makes good friends with Tina, whose father is extremely protective of her, to the point that she is always surrounded with bodyguards.
The storyline of The Princess Diaries has also been adapted into a movie, directed by Garry Marshall, and starring Anne Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis. During its prime, this movie reached the 3rd position in the box office, being released on the 3rd of August 2001.

    A Quirky,girly read

I was really impressed by this book at a 11 year old girl, but now, it dosen't make such a mark as before. the girl writes in a girly way, but isn't girly by nature, an irony though. Its a fast and quick read , won't take yoyu more than 2 days to finish it. A fresh change for people who have been reading hardcore fiction, magic and mystery. I would rather issue this from a library, than buy all 10 books of this series.
