Description
M.P. Jain & S.N. Jain Principles of Administrative Law has been a leading treatise on the subject for four decades. Administrative law has been growing very rapidly in India. The rapid growth of Administrative Law in modern times is the direct result of the tremendous growth of administrative powers of government officials and functions undertaken by the State. This growth has led to increasing concern for good governance through increased transparency, accountability and public participation in the administration. Judiciary has become more active in dealing with administrative arbitrariness. Although corruption in the administration has increased manifold, civil society’s concern for good governance is also mounting. The fact that several civil society action groups are taking up the cause to the Government to take steps against corrupt behaviour of the authorities is indicative of the growth of this trend. This thoroughly revised and enlarged edition takes into account all such new developments through the relevant case law.

Key features: A comprehensive treatise on Administrative Law Contains a detailed examination of the principles of Administrative Law and elaborate discussion on each one of them Takes note of the recent major developments in the field of Administrative Law Covers exhaustively all major judicial pronouncements which seek to strengthen procedural and substantive safeguards vis-à-vis the administration Analyses in detail the impact of various important Constitutional principles on Administrative law. Provides an elaborate discussion on the consequential development of Administrative Law in foreign countries through relevant foreign case law A separate chapter on Right to Information
