a beautiful work of art

This book has portrayed a very nice image of a woman's effort to make everyone in her life feel existence. During the process of transforming Eliza from a ugly duckling to a beauty queen Professor Higgins overlooked her endeavor to learn etiquettes. It simply doesn't mean that he was a passionate about his work and indifferent towards anything in this world, because he knew mock people (Miss Eynsford Hill). He had a superior feeling regarding his knowledge which restrained him from even acknowledging Eliza for her service keep aside her talents.

The twists in the book specially the climax really grabbed my attention. The characters in the story have stuck to their manners till the end.
It would not be justified not to mention Mrs Pearce here. She is a binding material.

Fine classical reading for english readers ( and well, pretty short too )

Pygamlion is Shaw's classic play, and his mood and style of writing will allow you to get up only when the book is finished. Its a classic, nothing more to be said-- a fine read for English classic lovers.

As for this version, the one published by "Pocket Book Classic", as wrongly mentioned on the page, its by Simon and Schuster of US, and the best part is, it doesnt only have the complete unabridged play, but also the historical and cultural context, the Britain of those times, a preface by Shaw himself, notes, excerpts. And the most amazing thing to this beautiful yet utterly short play is that its supplied with a sequel too--just in case if the reader is left with wanting more.

overall a nice version, just that now when i see, the price of this edition has more than doubled in less than a few weeks, so well ;)

G.B.S.' most pleasant play

George Bernard Shaw was one of the wittiest writers of his time.
His plays make you laugh and ponder at the same time, but what is most amazing about his writings is the development of the characters and 'Pygmalion' is a perfect example of it.
As this book is about a professor of Phonetics(the study of a language and its sounds)there are a lot of detailed conversations to bring forth the pronunciations of the dialects.
It takes a little attention to understand it, but that is essential.
A short play that has enriching characters especially "Higgins".

Short but brilliant!

Can be finished in one or two sittings. Highly witty.

But in this book, the entire text is cramped. There is not much spacing between the lines. Otherwise, recommend it to any book-lover as it hardly costs any money.

It says - Complete and Unabridged; although, the writing was brilliant, it was fairly simpler than I had expected.

Words, words and solely words.

After all, it is Mr. Shaw, that shews you once more what wonders come with being a master at speaking. The personality, character and the person change, with the change in the tones of its tongue. Do they? Ask Miss Doolittle.
