  • Description

Eight-year-old Kartikeya Kukreja solemnly swears to become an IAS officer after accompanying an illegal poaching expedition to obtain a partridge and blackbuck for his father’s boss’s supper.

Kartikeya eventually discovers the secret of his father’s fawning subordinates as they attempt to scramble their way up the civil service pyramid, and himself experiences a similar hilarious predicament.

A refreshingly original rendition of the slippery life in the Indian bureaucracy, Pyramid of Virgin Dreams, replete with comic imagery, portrays, with humour and intelligence, an India that is both farcical and full of hope.

    Simply superb!

Exceptionally well written.Thoroughly enjoyed every single page. Mr Mittra puts down the story of an unassuming bureaucrat facing the music of the administrative machinery and personal turmoil.
The analogies are superbly funny and witty. The novel reads well though the narration at times (very few) borders pomposity. Overall a refreshing read!

    one time readable.

At the very out outset I would like to thanks to flipkart for commendable service.
I completed this book without knowing the author as I thought it’s totally fiction, but somewhere I felt its story of author itself. Book is filled with so much ambiguous words where you feel like just pushing to end, overall it’s a good story describing life of bureaucracy, civil service aspirant can read once if they are free from preparation.

Very gud novel filled with humour n experiences in d life of an IAS!!

A very gud novel to read. I found the english bit on the tougher side. had to use lot of dictionary at number of occassions. but a very gud read.I strongly recommend it tough.GIves glimpses of so called elite service The IAS, their life n experiences. AWesum work by vipul mittra. d way he describes the story n captures minute details about minor things which we don't really care about and the way he stamps them in d pages of the novella is awesum!!

a good book to peep inside an IAS life

the author has done a good job as a first time writer.the book is a peep inside a bureaucrat's day to day life. the author wonderfully displays the ambivalence of the protagonist and how he matures as a person in his life. he explains his vivid dreams masterly and makes the reading experience quite engaging.
some people may find this book a little confusing which can be due to lack of an central theme.
