  • Description

It Rained All Night is a bold and intense story about a woman who commits adultery. The story is narrated from the point of view of Maloti Mukherji and her husband, Nayonangshu.

    Summary of the Book

A strained relationship can cause a partner to stray. The most common, yet scandalous, form of betrayal in a marraige is an extramarital affair. Nayonangshu and Maloti Mukherji have been married for a while now,but Maloti is frustrated of her husband’s insecurities and troubles in the bedroom. An unsatisfied wife, she finds love and passion in the arms of Jayanto, a journalist. Her secret relationship with him has not been so much of a secret. Nayonangshu has known all along, but he is too proud to confront his wife. The novel was first published in Bengali and had been banned as it was considered too obscene for Indian readers. The bestseller is a candid story about adultery, jealousy and desire.

    Really Awesome

I love how the narration is alternated between Maloti and Nayonangshu, each telling us their side of the story, and how the reader feels at the same time a third party voyeur and a closely involved part of the story.

If ever there's a book to read where one wants to keep up with the characters every thought, every dream, every feeling, this book is it.

    Literary piece - Good book

The book was banned and the author was convicted in court in the early 1970s for alleged obscenity in his book. That fact apart, the book went on to grab headlines and became a best-seller. This is a literary piece of a novel with its first half steeped in well written erotica.

    A must read book

It gives you a nice insight into the modern marital life.
Though you know most of the issue of modern life, you will still like the way the plot has been described by a husband and a wife, both having their own view!
