Since some time I had been feeling strongly to read a good poetry in Hindi. And I decided to start with this, as had heard a lot about it from some hindi scholars. And It over-delivered on my expectations. This being my first serious-reading (a poetry), I've already fallen in love with this creation. Dinkar Ji hs made this story even more beautiful by his words.
I was in chapter 4, when his description of the conversation between Karn and Indra brought tears in my eyes. The words were simple yet beautiful and very moving.
This book is recommended if you want to read something that has literary beauty and yet simple to understand. 'Hindi' never felt as good as it feels after reading this.
This book is a must read for anyone interested in Hindi literature or Hindi poetry. After reading this you come to realize that Hindi can be so beautiful. Ramdhari Singh Dinkar was entitled with the title of Rstrakavi and he does full justice with it. The way he portrays the character of Karna is simply marvelous. Karna happens to be one of the unsung and also quite misunderstood heroes of Mahabharata.
For those who are not much into Hindi, I would say that don't be skeptical about buying this book thinking that you wont be able to understand it because the flow of the book is so intense and the writing so powerful that the emotions will just pierce into your heart, even if you aren't aware of some words. And for those who love Hindi, its a sheer delight.
I was watching mahabharat series on my laptop, as soon as I completed the some 91 episodes, I was taken by this feeling of knowing more about Karna. This feeling led me to buy this book and various others related to Mahabharata. This is one of the best composition you will find about Danveer Karna and I am fully satisfied by the book. Very well written by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar. Also, its lucidity has impressed me a lot. Don't abstain yourself from buying this book because of its difficult language, cause thats the beauty of this book, you can get the meaning of every word, still you have to think a little to understad the whole.
An extraordinary compilation of poems relating to the legendary character of Karna in Mahabharata, this form of poetry will perhaps be everlasting and will motivate generations of Indians who study Hindi. A true masterpiece from RashtraKavi Ramdhari Singh Dinkar. Each chapter is a classic in itself and any meaningful praise of this masterpiece cannot be penned down in such short review. For any person learning hindi this book would serve as a reference to understand mastery over vocabulary and will motivate him/her to learn the finer aspects of the language.
I read Dinkarji in my school time and now picked this up from flipkart. Its a literary masterpiece.
Why aren't we seing such prolific writers/poets these days, writing in our own languages (don't we have plenty of them)?
These days, it seems, writing (only in ) english is a trend and more so to impress western counterparts. Pity!!
I'd request flip kart to bring complete indian literature in all indian languages. Please do not be like Crossword, catering only english readers.
Disclaimer: I am not an english hater.
