Reasoning Strategies In Mathematics,

"Mathematics is the indispensable instrument of all physical research." Different types of Reasoning are involved in the learning of mathematics. In this study, four types of reasoning namely, inductive, deductive, analytical and intuitive are considered. The reasoning strategies evolved by the research consists of four modules aim at enhancing all the types of reasoning. The content chosen for the strategies is mainly Geometry becasue it requires and lends itself for more reasoning than any another branch of mathematics.

Currently, Dr. Ningamma C. Betsur is a faculty member, in the Dept. of studies in Education, Karnataka State Women University, Bijapur, Karnataka. She obtained her M.Sc., M.Ed., & Ph.D. degrees from Banglore University. She has also been awarded, "Master Trainer Certificate". Dr. Ningamma has served for eleven years as Lecturer in the colleg eof Education. She has worked as mathematics lecturer in the junior college and taught mathematics and physics in the high-school for some time. She has attended many orientation programmes, seminars and workshops conducted by various organizations. She has also conducted orientation programmes for high-school trs of Karnataka State.
