Reluctant Partners Coming Together?: Interface Between People, Government And The Ngos

The papers in this volume,presented at two workshops - "Reluctant Partners Coming Together", and"InterfaceBetween Government, NGOs and the People" - jointly organised by the GTZ/SHF,Bangalore; Inter-Cooperation CSDCD, Hyderabad; and Development SupportInitiative (NOVIB) and the ISEC, Bangalore, identify and analyse the type ofinterface between government, NGOs and people, based on evidence from nine NGOsfrom South India. Analysing the potential and problems in establishinginstitutional framework, the contributors present experiences of NGOs providingdetails of their organisation, objectives, developmental activities, number ofvillages covered and the number of groups formed. They also discuss thestrategies adopted in establishing interface and problems that NGOs as well asthe people encountered in the process.
