Revolution 2020 (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.80

Revolution 2020 is an engaging tale of two best friends who fall in love with the same girl. The novel is set against the backdrop of rampant corruption, which one friend yields to, but the other fights.

Summary Of The Book

The novel is set in Varanasi. Chetan Bhagat initiates the story through the central character Gopal. It is through Gopal’s narration of his life to the author that we are introduced to Raghav and Aarti. The story revolves around these three characters. While Gopal comes from a poor family, Raghav comes from a well-off family. Both set out to achieve success and realise their dreams. While Gopal’s main motive is to seek financial wealth, Raghav has always wanted to bring in a revolutionary change in the political arena of the country.

As circumstances may have it, both the boys fall in love with the same girl, Aarti. However, Aarti eventually falls for Raghav. The climax of the story reaches its peak when Aarti harbors feelings for Gopal too. Who will she finally choose? In the meantime, Gopal, through unfair means and with the help of a corrupt politician Shukla, starts an engineering college. Raghav goes on to become a successful journalist and begins to use this power to expose Shukla’s wrongdoings.

It is indeed an interesting tale that has been realistically depicted against the background of a real world where corruption looms large. It brings to light the corrupt system of education in India. Revolution 2020 was published in 2011 and turned out to be a bestseller.

aint his best work!!

Yes, he got India reading. And lots of Indians writing and publishing houses brimming in Dharavi! Personally, I have nothing against the style of the guy, it rather being real trash. There is no growth of writing prowess since his first book;seems rather interested in the movie adaptation of the book and I dont think thats why books should be written. The story is very predictable, few flavours taken out the 'Chanakya Chant' and B grade movies. The recommendations in the foreword are as plain as the book itself and Mr Bhagat seems to have rushed through the book. His previous book was wit... ()

This unfortunately is depressing and mostly 'loserly' - a term Mr Bhagat seems to use very often in the book. And for once, dear Mr Bhagat, we would love references outside IIM and IIT. There is a world beyond those institutions and Im hoping you grow out of it. Just to add, I couldnt put myself through the entire book! I rather not rate it!

Kane and Abel a tale of two cities

well not that I am a huge fan of his writing but never thought his writing was absolute trash either. Well, that is until I read this book. Absolutely depressing - to the extent of giving me a hangover ( if that's possible). The worst part however is not how depressing the story is but how unoriginal it seems. Its a smart marketer's (ya, the IIM Background helps) attempt at combining (or should I use the cliche 'inspired by') parts of books like Kane and Abel, A tale of two cities and well if he wishes it launch a sequel to this book a la' Wuthering Heights style ( Gopal makes an ideal Heat... Substanceless

Substanceless.. No Good.. Cliche'd.. run-of-the-mill story.. i want full refund of the money i paid for this book.. i don't even want to bother to rate the book.. but the site does'nt accept review if rating is not given.. so i m giving it a 1 star rating.. despite the fact that it deserves no star at all.. i found reading the book a waste of my precious time and would seriously appreciate a full refund of money..

Huge disappointment

With lots of hopes ,i'd ordered this book.Once booked i kept keeping a check on the shipping !! once received ,i'v read the book immediately ,but it was a huge turn off!! Even still i am confused ,what he was trying to say. is it that true love will be a failure or only professionally successful people are worthy of it or girls dont have brains to think and they will easily bounce to anyone anytime??:( ...CB had given a greater blow now..his two books one night at call center and 3 mistakes were also pathetic ,and thats when he came up with an excellent "two states" and now again... Best CB book so far!! Really??

I never really do this but I'm obliged to write this one because even though I've been disappointed before by a Chetan Bhagat book, nothing has ever come close to this one here.
Firstly, if anyone is going by the title, I'd tell you take a huge step back because the word has highly been misused, probably just to rake in the moolah coming in from the current political "probable" uprising in India. There is absolutely no revolution here in any which way, not even attempting to incite the tiniest feeling in your heart! If anything, you almost feel like connecting to the protagonist,...

If anything, you almost feel like connecting to the protagonist, who by the way is a manipulative, heartless, corrupt, love-sick soul.
Which brings me to the next point, what sort of book makes the reader feel bad for a corrupt guy just because he's not getting the girl, and paint an almost villainous picture for the poor little guy trying to make the world a better place?
Along with that, an almost rushed into ending glorifying the heroism of the "oh so wonderful" Devdas!
The plot is so unbelievable bad that the only reason I finished it was to give a proper criticism to any soul who ever approached me!
I am by no means a Chetan Bhagat hater. I personally loved his One night.. and Two states, where there were instances I could actually relate to and even if couldn't, it always made me laugh at the simplicity of the line but at the same time relish at the reality in those situations! Even though this book is youth-centric, in no way could I relate or feel for the characters. Except for painting a beautiful picture about Varanasi, this book has left no mark.

The most enjoyable book I read in few years

Chetan, I am officially your fan now. After masterpieces like "5 point someone" & "2 states", Revolution 2020 nails it. You have disappointed us in between (One night at call center & 3 mistakes of my life). But, this one is a gem. Notwithstanding the snide derisions f... (View complete review)

Revolution 2020 Loved it.

CB is not only a writer. For me, he is more than that. Loved the novel. A decent story with an astounding climax.
And yes, flipkart done his job perfectly. No issues. Shipment was done on time.
Overall a good experience.
