Description
It was the dead thing they found hanging from a tree that changed the trip beyond recognition. When four old University friends set off into the Scandinavian wilderness of the Arctic Circle, they aim to briefly escape the problems of their lives and reconnect. But when Luke, the only man still single and living a precarious existence, finds he has little left in common with his well-heeled friends, tensions rise. A shortcut meant to ease their hike turns into a nightmare scenario that could cost them their lives. Lost, hungry, and surrounded by forest untouched for millennia, things couldn't possibly get any worse. But then they stumble across an old habitation. Ancient artefacts decorate the walls and there are bones scattered upon the floors. The residue of old rites for something that still exists in the forest. Something responsible for the bestial presence that follows their every step. And as the four friends stagger in the direction of salvation, they learn that death doesn't come easy among these ancient trees...

A bit too descriptive.

Okay, I agree, a good setting is a must for any story. But this book goes into a bit too much detailing. And I found it a little lengthy. But on the plus side, the gore has been described terrifically! BUT, I was expecting (SPOILER ALERT!!!!) a ghost or spirit or such kind of an entity. But it turned out to be a monster. Okay fine, but with the head of a GOAT????!!! Not scary. Sorry. I gave it an extra one star for the description of the gore.

Was not very happy

The delivery,as usual was on time...Many pages were written on describing the minute details of the surrounds...after some time, I opted to skip whenever I see those details....With the suspense in the initial part, I guess I expected something more than what was actually there....If you have seen Horror Holliwood flicks, this is nothing...just a starter...

Scary!

The book is divided into two parts.
The first part of the book was very creepy and scary at the same time. The four characters who meet up after a long time struggle to gel together and whats worse is that they find them selves lost in a forest with an ancient monster which is hell bent on hunting them one by one.The way the author describes their surroundings, the character's feelings, their reactions to what they think they are seeing and their conclusions are all top notch.I particularly lo...

Starts off well but loses steam

I was much intrigued by this one and when I finally read it, the first half thrilled me. Actually, it terrified me. Let's divide the plot into two parts, the first part of the plot is creepy. Brilliantly written. A feeling of impending catastrophe looms large as the group of friends creep deeper into the jungle and aspects of their relationship with each other is explored. How a human mind behaves in a predicament is evident in this story.

The second part of the plot was a letdown. I was mas...

Blair witch revisited

the book starts on a rather depressing note with friends falling apart , and as you keep turning the its gets exciting yet you sense a blair witch feeling seeping in . While the depiction of horror is spot on the second part is a total let down to the suspense Neville build up . Its a one time read book and rest in teh book shelf for ever .
