Royal Bengal Rahasya (Movie, DVD) Price: Rs.399

On an invitation by Mahitosh Singha Ray, Lalmohon Babu takes Feluda and Topshe to a forest near Bhutan and climbs up in the ancestral home of Mahitosh Singha Ray. After few days of their arrival,Mahitosh Singha Ray's assistance, Tarit dies. His deadbody is found in the forest, and police believes he has died due to the tiger's snarl. But later they found a blood-stained sword near his body. Meanwhile, Mahitosh gives Feluda a puzzle to solve. Feluda's amazing intelligence is proved in this part. He solves it most amazingly, and at the end, chalks out that a treasure chest is hidden 55 hands away from a tree which has a hole between it, which looks like an old person's mouth without any teeth; between two Arjuna trees. While Feluda and his companion are on the way to the treasure chest, they finds Tarit's spectacles and later on, his torch, which suggests that Tarit has solved the puzzle much earlier than the others, and was on his way to the treasure chest. At last, Feluda finds the treasure chest, and helds out the conclusion. Mahitosh had broke his hand due to a fall from a tree, which Feluda came to know when he was unable to hold the rifle. All the precious huntings of the tiger were done by his friend, Shashanka. On that night, while Tarit was about to leave, Shashanka too followed him quietly. When there came a Royal Bengal Tiger. Shashanka fired his rifle, which shoot off the tiger's nose after Feluda found a bit of skin. Tarit's sword, as he observed, has begun acting like a magnet, which was created by a flash of lightning. Thus, Tarit wasn't murdered by any villain, but only, the nature was the cause of his death. He, at the end of the story is rewarded with a part of treasure.

Revival of Feluda

After the poor & lacklustre (literally, since the shortage of funds had compelled the director to seek advertisements & sponsorships rather badly, and "poking-in-the-face" manner) "Gorosthane Sabdhan", Feluda returns in this brilliant film in all (well, almost, since it would be unfair to expect Sabyasachi display his athletic actions at this age that he could show in "Bombaiyer Bombete") his glory. The novella is known to every Bengali who can read, and this film (supported by Sri Venkatesh group) does justice to the plot, setting, and characterisation wonderfully. The actors are all in their element, and the forest looks alluring as well as dangerous. If only, the tiger would have been a little more convincing! But the bonus DVD, rich with features, make this pack especially attractive. Most importantly, despite all the criticism that late Bibhu Bhattacharya might have gathered, it would indeed be difficult to find another "Jatayu" for the films. Highly recommended.

The Feluda movie with best production values I have seen to date

This movie has in 16:9 with both DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1. That should suffice to tell that technically, this is one of the better made Feluda movies, and that alone makes it very watchable. Probably because this was made recently (2012 ?). But then, Feluda looked a little old to me :-)

The picture quality as well as the performances are really polished all round. My only beef would be with Sandip Ray's tendency of trying to show part of the mystery beforehand, like Shashanka Sanyal nodding disapprovingly. There is absolutely no indication in the actual story (till the end) that he had any reason to be unhappy about anything. Also, the story should be presented exactly as the writer had written it. There was no need to show Tait babu actually going into the jungle, or Shashanka babu notice him go. I also don't like the fact that computers and cell phones are being used/mentioned in these movies, but I can live with those.

But overall, this is a really good presentation. Some parts don't follow the original story exactly, possibly due to recent animal cruelty prevention regulations, but I guess the viewer would understand that.

Feluda is back!!!

The immortal sleuth is back with a bang. This movie was released along with a Salman Khan starred bollywood flick.Shows for this movie was going houseful in contrast to limited views of the bollywood flick which shows the great heights Bengali Cinema have reached. But we have experienced sad moments along with the joyous ones. The sad demise of Bibhu Bhattacharya has created a void in Feluda cult and now the actor who would be playing Jatayu in Feluda movies would have to fit in pretty large shoes. RIP Bibhu Bhattacharya, no played Jatayu better than you!
We love Jatayu and we love Feluda!

A movie on which even Satyajit Ray would have been proud of.

This is definetly Sandip Ray's best Feluda film and one of the best Feluda films ever made. The expectations of the movie were quite high and Ray overcame it quite easily with the help of some brilliant performances from it's leads Sabyasachi, Saheb and of course my very favorite Jatayu played brilliantly by the late Bibhu Bhattarcharya. We would surely miss this masterclass actor. Surely this movie gives us a completely different but mysterious experience of the jungle. A must watch for any fan of suspense thriller movies.

Awesome!

As usual I am always impressed by Flipkart's service. It's perfect. Coming to the movie, Royal Bengal Rahasya is a very good movie. Being a Felu Mitter's die-hard fan, I have seen all of Sandip Ray's movies and I feel this was the best one. The cinematography was excellent, the shots and locations are beautiful, makes one want to go there and exploit myself. Really nice movie. Clear picture and excellent DVD quality. Flipkart rocks! 100 out of 100
