With banks closed and jobs and homes lost, all America is in chaos. It is the post depression era, as the country struggles to rise up from the Great Depression. On a farm near Ithaca, Michigan, a family of seven is determined to survive. There is no running water, no electricity, no bathroom, no icebox in the two bedroom home-nothing much except for love and a will to overcome the obstacles before them These stories, recounted by one of the daughters, range from funny to sad, from joyous to tragic and from frightening to hopeful as they follow one family's life on the Rugged Road to Recovery. Author Bio: Phyllis K. Bigelow graduated from Ithaca High School in 1950. Now in her latter seventies, she still maintains an active and busy life. Her adventurous spirit means she enjoys exploring and learning things new to her. She makes claim that doing so keeps her young as does her zest for healthy living.
