Flipkart has decided to stop selling digital MP3 files due to business reasons.

You can purchase the MP3 files till 17th June, 2013.

Yes. If there is any unused wallet balance post 17th June 2013, we will refund the amount back to source.

No. Unfortunately, you cannot use Flyte Balance to buy ebooks/physical products in Flipkart after 17th June, 2013.

Will Flipkart continue to sell ebooks after 17th June, 2013?
Absolutely yes. You can continue to purchase the ebooks through credit/debit cards or netbanking. Flipkart has no plan to discontinue the eBooks and is continuously increasing the catalog and improving our apps for better user experience.

Dates to remember:
1. Monday, June 17, 2013: Flyte MP3 store will close down. You will no longer be able to purchase MP3 files from Flyte after this date.
The remaining credits in your Flyte wallet, if any, will be converted to Flipkart store credit. You can use this to make purchases from Flipkart.com
2. Sunday, August 18, 2013: The digital library will close down. You will no longer be able to download your purchased MP3 files from your digital library after this date. So please download all your music before that.

In what format can I download my music?
All digital music available on Flipkart is encoded in DRM-free MP3 format.
By default the downloaded music is encoded at 128kbps bitrate. However, you could choose to download songs at 320kbps or 64kbps at the time of download from the library.
Please note that if a song is not available at 320kbps bitrate, you will not be able to choose that option.

What does DRM-free mean?
Digital Rights Management or "DRM" commonly refers to software that is designed to control or limit how a file can be played, copied, downloaded, shared or accessed.
DRM-free means that the MP3 files you purchase from Flipkart do not contain any software that will restrict their usage in any way.

Does the downloaded music have information tags?
The MP3s available for download on Flipkart have ID3 tags with meta information about the tracks that list out information such as artist name, album name or genre. This helps in organizing your music collection.
MP3 files available on Flipkart use ID3 version 2.4 to embed information. This is compatible with iTunes. Few players like Windows Media Player and Winamp support v2.3 and don't read some information from v2.4

How is music downloaded from Flipkart better than pirated versions?
Music MP3s available for download on Flipkart are encoded at 320kbps - which is on par with CD/DVD quality music. And what’s more, MP3s for sale on Flipkart are legally sourced from music labels.

Is the music available on Flyte copyrighted?
Yes, all the music available for purchase on the Flipkart Flyte Digital Music Store is under copyright. When you make a purchase from the store you are accepting the ‘Flipkart Music Downloads Terms of Use’ and are bound by them.

What is the size of each music file?
That depends on the quality of the song (kbps) and the song length (in minutes)
We have some indicative sizes for you:
5 min song at 320 kbps ~ 12 MB
5 min song at 128 kbps ~ 5 MB

From where can I download the songs I purchased?
All MP3 downloads purchased are added to the MP3 Library (https://www.flipkart.com/account/library). You can download your music till August 18, 2013, on any Internet enabled device as long as you can login to your Flipkart account.

Can I download the same song more than once?
Yes! All purchased songs and albums are automatically added to your digital library. From there, you can legally download a purchased song onto any internet enabled device.

What is a Download Manager?
“Download Manager” is a desktop application that enables faster and easier downloads. The Download Manager allows you to pause and resume file downloads later. While downloading multiple songs, especially from an Album, the download manager saves a lot of clicks.

Can I listen to the downloaded music on my Android phones, iPhone, iPod or other mobile phone?
Once you have purchased music it gets added to your digital library on Flipkart. You can then listen to the music on your mobile phone by using the Flyte MP3 app for Android, iOS or Windows 8. Alternatively, you can transfer the files directly using USB or bluetooth.

Can the MP3s be downloaded to all operating systems?
Yes, as long as the Internet browser installed on your OS supports file downloads you can download the MP3 files on any Operating System

Which music players can I use to listen to music purchased here?
Any digital media player or software (e.g. Windows Media Player, Winamp, the Flyte MP3 app, iTunes etc) that is capable of playing MP3 files can be used to play the music downloaded from flipkart.com.

What is the Flyte MP3 App?
The Flyte MP3 App enables you to sync the tracks and albums you have purchased from the Flyte MP3 store and listen to them on the go, offline or online. We support Android and iOS platforms currently.
You can download the Android app from the Google Play, searching for “Flyte MP3”. Alternatively you can download from here.
You can download the iPad and iPhone apps from the App store searching for "Flyte MP3". Alternatively you can follow these links to download the iPad and iPhone apps.

How do I download music using the Android app?
You can download songs from the “Library” anytime by accessing the “Online Library” tab in the app.

Where are the files downloaded in the Android app?
The Song files are downloaded to the folder /SDCard/Flyte

What does ‘On Device’ and ‘On Flyte’ mean?
The ‘On Device’ section points to songs which have been downloaded to your iPhone or iPad app from your Flyte library, and songs which have been imported from your iTunes collection. You can play these songs using the Flyte app’s inbuilt player.
The ‘On Flyte’ section represents the online library associated with your flipkart.com account. You can view all the tracks and albums you have purchased from the flipkart.com MP3 Download page. These songs need to be downloaded to your device in order to play them.

What does iTunes import mean?
This feature enables you to import songs that you have purchased and added to your iTunes Music library into the Flyte MP3 app and enjoy them under one fold.
This feature does an incremental scan each time, so it only syncs songs that have been freshly added to your iTunes library.

Where are the songs that I imported to my device?
The imported songs can be found in the ‘On Device’ section of the app. Check the respective tab.

The ‘On Device’ section contains all the downloaded songs.

What does 'Facebook Sharing' do?
The Facebook Sharing feature enables you to add your activities to your Facebook timeline and share with your friends. The sharing happens seamlessly in the background once you enable it.
The following activities trigger sharing:
- Listening to a song purchased from the Flyte MP3 Download store. This event is triggered only after you listen to the song for at least 10 seconds.
- Download of song from your online Library. This event is triggered once the track is completely downloaded.

How to buy music using the iPad and iPhone apps?
Tracks and Albums can be puchased only from the main flipkart.com website and not directly through the Flyte MP3 app for iPad and iPhone.
However, the Flyte MP3 app for iPhone or iPad enables you to discover the Track or Album of your choice and add it to your Digital Cart. You could access your wishlist on the flipkart.com website and complete your purchase.
The purchased songs are added to your Flyte library and hence accessible through the ‘On Flyte’ section in the Flyte MP3 app.

I couldn’t find the song I purchased online from Flipkart.com website?
The app refreshes the entries in the ‘On Flyte’ section in short intervals. If you don’t find the songs, you could try refreshing the entries manually by pulling down the first entry that you see.

I clicked the "Download All" button. Will all the tracks download again?
No, it will verify if the song is already downloaded and add only those songs which are not in the device yet.

How do I transfer downloaded music from the app to my computer?
When you connect your device to your computer, you could access the songs you downloaded in the Flyte MP3 app, in the apps tab of the desktop iTunes application under Flyte app.

How do I make the downloaded songs appear in my default iOS music app?
You could sync your songs from the Flyte MP3 app to the Music app through the following steps:
- Transfer the songs downloaded in the Flyte MP3 app to your computer as suggested earlier.
- Drag and drop the songs to your device in iTunes

Why do I see different download counts on the website and app?
The app syncs with the website and updates the download count once every 5 hours. The app affects the download count only when a track is completely downloaded.
