Frequently Bought Together With This Mobile
Really nice phone at a modest price.
Pros:
a. Price
b. Good build quality
c. Attractive looking
d. Good quality screen with decent screen size (3.5 in 320x480)
e. Froyo (Android 2.2) out of the box
f. Good onscreen keyboard that is comfortable to type on especially in landscape mode.
g. 800 mhz processor that makes the phone pretty responsive.
e. Call/sound quality is pretty nice.
f. 5m camera. Pics seem pretty decent. Also has an led flash.
g. Good sound quality for radio/music.
Cons:
a. Browser plays Youtube videos but Flash content on other sites does not work. Also, Android Market does not allow downloading Flash Flayer 10.1 saying that the device is not supported.
b. No front facing camera for video calls.
c. Video recording quality pretty poor - 15fps
Overall a good buy for the price. Pretty happy with the Android Froyo experience so far.
I've just bought this phone...its for 15000/- ...same as Flipkart....
and its....AWESOME ! :-)
the 800 Mhz processor is ultimate...too fast...
the main thing that got me hooked is the sceen size...its sharp n big ! :-)
For the technical details, u can refer to flipkart...
I'd suggest u go n get thsi phone...its a catch...
the 5 MP cam is great...the brand Samsung itself is a big thing...
n the processor is just 200 Mhz less than the best smartphones out there.....
all in all...its a GREAT phone and i'm loving it ! :-)
What I like
-- Crisp 3.5in screen
-- Android
-- Very sharp touch response
-- Good preloaded widgets like News and weather, Clocks, Finance, Power control etc.
-- Task Manager, helps to clear up background apps and RAM.
-- Overall built quality, seems worth a lot more!! ;)
-- Its pretty slim!
-- Pack contains 2 back panels - black and white
-- Price, sheer VFM :)
What I don't like
-- 278 MB RAM, probably the weakest link of the chain here
-- Low internal memory, 180MB
-- Camera: No zoom if you are shooting at full res(5 MP)
-- No flash support
-- Flimsy bundled earphones
-- No notification LEDs to inform you of missed calls/messages.
-- No Front facing camera
All in all, I would say a very balanced handset at a very decent price. If you have been waiting for that elusive Android device that ticks most of the boxes and still doesn't burn a hole in your pocket, I would say, this 'could' be it!
I have been waiting for this phone and was disappointed when checked its features with competetive models.
Resolution of ACE and Optimus is same where as Defy is just like 30K phones.
LG optimus one has 512 MB ram (Samsung Ace has 256 MB only).. so opening of the application is almost though LG lags a but due to 600 Mhz processor. Motorola Defy on the other hand has 512 MB ram.
Image quality is better in LG as compared to Samsung. Defy is same as Optimus one (even though Ace/Defy are 5 MP compared to 3.2 MP of Optumus, only drawback, no falsh)
Video quality in Defy is VGA/30 FPS, Optimus: VGA:24 FPS, Ace: QVGA/15 FPS (Shame on ace despite of 800 Mhz processor)
GPU in Defy is better than ACE and Optimus: defy 200 Mhz at filtering rate of 500 MHZ
Looks vise Defy is much better than these phones..Almost whols phone panel is covered by screen..So even though with small form factor..screen is bigger and Of highest resolution.
Apart from these, Defy has 1550 Mah Battery that lasts longer than ACE (Optimus is almost same as Defy).
Defy has corning Gorilla glass (None of te other sets has) and it is dust/waterproof too.
and the best part..it has motoblur UI
Just bought the Samsung Galaxy Ace today, and so far I have a great feeling about it.
Ace has a rock-solid build quality, with the rough textured back panel giving a slip-resistant grip and all the useful buttons laid around the sides thoughtfully (all metal buttons, with covers for the USB port, memory card and camera). There is only one physical key on the front face (which is the HOME key), with 2 soft/virtual keys ACTIVATE/MENU and GOBACK/CANCEL keys (that activate once the phone is unlocked). I would have preferred dedicated physical keys for these actions, as they are useful if the phone or a call ever freezes.
The 16M colors display with gorilla glass is just awesome, and though it is not Super AMOLED, it is still a visual treat. Live Wallpapers are fun and they work. Scrolling, tapping, typing, or pinch zooming with the capacitive touch sensitive screen and viewing videos/photos is a sheer pleasure.
Without even charging the phone for first time, I have been using all its features heavily since past few hours, and it still shows half battery meter. I am sure that if I use it moderate-heavily (without the usual battery-draining data services like GPS & Mobile Office/GPRS always enabled), it will easily last me around 1.5 days average. 1350mAh battery is good, though I would have preferred 1500mAh. Remember, most of all the smartphones these days will drain battery easily due to bigger screensizes, frequently-web-syncing apps, HD music/video playback and 3D games. Nokia phones have better battery, but with lesser features at heavier costs.
Ace is loaded with good apps (though Facebook app needs to be manually searched and installed later). The full-version ThinkFree office suite is just perfect for business users. The phone never feels sluggish, and all the apps load up fast, even the Google Maps and Youtube app. The A-GPS and gravity/gyro sensor are accurate, with almost all the default apps having motion-sense responsiveness, so switching from portrait to landscape or vice versa is almost instantaneous.
I must commend the FM, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS reception. The Ace perfectly found and configured my WPA2-AES protected home WiFi network, and Android 2.2 has support for advanced features like static IP, multiple DNS servers, etc. Ace has much better antennas than all my other portable devices, and I found web surfing to be a breeze. It is almost like browsing on your desktop PC, albeit with a smaller screen.
I didn't find many apps in the Samsung market (I live in India), but I don't care, since the internet with flooded with gray-market apps. First, I need to install an antivirus solution. :-)
The Ace has so far shown me a very stable and pleasurable UI and Android finally seems to have matured with its 2.2 Froyo version (my past experience with Android 1.6 and 2.1 devices hasn't been good, especially with Wifi connectivity and app stability).
Galaxy Ace seems to be Samsung's ace in the Android hole. HTC and other vendors better wake up.
