A very bad phone.....
better off buying optimus 2x if you want a tegra 2 phone (for gamers of course). 18-20 was a good price for this phone. Optimus 2x has a much better camera and a much better IPS display. Also the LG android skin is lightweight compared to the touchwiz crap.And dont forget that the Optimus 2X has a Gorilla glass display making it scratch-proof. And there is a great replacement in CyanagenMod if you dont like the firmware the company offers. And those naysayers thinking 512 MB RAM on Optimus 2X is not enough, think again. Even the iphone 4S released has only 512 MB RAM!!GALAXY R SHOULD BE PRICED LOWER THAN 2x IF IT HAS TO SURVIVE!!!!!!!!!!!experience- I own both the smartphones
Great phone for the price
I had been waiting for the price of the phone to come down from 27k, now at ~23k, its a good buy. The dual core along with the 1GB ram makes make the phone almost silky smooth to operate. With 8GB of internal storage and 1650 mAmp battery keeps it on par or lead with the class of phones at this price. I have been using the phone for the past 2 days and it has impressed me. Battery on a full charge and pretty heavy use lasted me a little more than a day, mind you the brightness of the phone was in the least setting.
The pros
- The screen is pretty good, even if its not an Amoled
- the battery is large and lasts pretty for 1-1.5 days
- The OS and the games run silky smooth
- the touch is absolutley phenomenal (i moved from Nokia resistive)
But there a few niggles,
- the samsung provided headphone are at best, "pathetic"
- The screen feels solid but not gorilla glass
- Samsung provided widgets are hardly impressive unlike the HTC, you will need to go to the market and download some widgets
With 2 days in to the product, I am very happy with it. I would be happy to recomment it to any one purchasing in the range of 20-25k.
And yes, Flipkart's service has as always impressed me when i have used it.

Disappointed
Was waiting for this phone for a long time. But at this price, the purpose of this phone as a trimmed down budget edition of sII is quite defeated. I would have liked it to be priced round abt. 23-24. But I guess thn it wud have crept in the market of S plus. Rite now will wait for a month for the price to stabilise. Or wait for Galaxy W.
Under estimated Super Smart Phone
This is my first smartphone of touch screen. I have never purchased phone other than nokia.
Have brought this phone one month back.I had seen phones of following brands in operation before buying this one. Sony E Neo V, LG Optimix2X, HTC Desire S, Samsung Galaxy S Plus, iphone 3gs. This phone is superior to all the above listed.
Internal Memory 8GB with breakup as 1) System Storage 1.97 GB(viewable), 2) Internal for downlodable application 3.75 GB (viewable), 3) For Anroid OS 2 GB (not viewable). RAM 724MB
Excellent battery life (1.5 to 2 days with normal usage having phone calls, music & video playing, games and 2G surfing)
Clear & loud audio quality of phone calls.
Camera performance is also good with 720p(HD) recording facility.
Excellent sunlight visiblity of Super LCD screen.
Touch controls smooth as silk.
Big Touch screen (4.19 inch)this makes viewing of viedos and net surfing very good.I have viewed full HD video (1080p) on this phone and they play good but quality of 720p HD video is very good even on you tube.
Support for almost all kind of video formats.
Multitasking various application very fast.
Phone dosent get Hot as in case of SE Neo V.
Only ROYAL Users can know the gems hidden in SAMSUNG GALAXY R aka SAMSUNG GALAXY Royal.............
