Samsung HM1700 In-the-ear Headset

I'm using HM1700 for about 2 months now. In a nutshell, it is very good headset if you want to use it for infrequent indoor (I stress, indoor) calls, or if you want to use it with your PC for youtube/media, or if you use it with your phone for podcasts. If you want to use it mainly for phone calls, look elsewhere. Below is my detailed experience with HM1700.

PROS:

- Very good fit. With ear loop, you'll forget you're wearing it
- Voice prompts, very intuitive and actually useful. Tells you about headset status, power on, power off, device connected, device disconnected, multiple devices connected
- A2DP can connect to Android, iPhone, PC, Mac to play any audio, not only phone calls. Any sound that can play through your speakers can be played in your headset. Sound is not very rich, but very usable for youtube, podcasts, text-to-speech webpage readouts etc
- Can connect to 2 devices simultaneously. E.g. to your PC and Phone. Very useful once you get hang of it. No more switching between devices
- Great battery life. I use it few times a day for calls and youtube and then turn it off. And I only have to charge it once in 3-4 days.
- Good speaker volume. You'll mostly use it 70-80% volume max
- Two ear loops, just in case first gets broken
- Great build quality, nice design and finish. Rubber protected micro-usb connector

CONS

- I can't stress it enough. It picks up TOO much background sound from mic during calls, absolutely no noise cancellation. Even in low noise surroundings, it performs badly and actually amplifies background sounds. If my TV set is playing on a low volume callers complain of sound. If I move to my balcony, callers complain about wind and traffic noise. If I try to use it on a pedestrian walkway, the communication becomes almost impossible due to background noise my callers hear
- It does automatic volume leveling. On papers it sounds good, but practically it's frustrating. Frequently during calls it suddenly increases the volume to uncomfortable levels. As a result you end up adjusting volume frequently
- Difficult to check battery level. You have to press an unusual key combination to check battery. Blinking light does not display battery level, only connectivity status. As a result you never know when it is low on charge and sometimes it turns off during calls
- One press auto redial. Even if you press call key by mistake, which is frequent while handling the headset, it straight away redials last called number. I wish they could put this feature to double tap or long tap
- Not a big deal, but I wish they could place the "Samsung" logo in a different way. Right now logo is along the length if you wear on right ear. If you wear it on left ear, like I do, the logo appears upside down and looks odd

I purchased this product for a reason. Mobile Network Signal is very weak in my room. I always used wired earphones to talk, keeping my phone at a location where it can get better signal. But it was very inconvenient to use wired earphones all the time.
So i went for this product.
It works super fine in my room. But as soon as I step outside into the noisy world, this product fails to show its efficiency. Noise Cancellation feature is just for namesake. The other person can't hear your voice at all because of the noise. YOU"LL HAVE TO SHOUT AND TALK IF YOU WANT THE OTHER PERSON TO HEAR YOU.

Apart from this, product is brilliant. No other issues. Some of the good points are listed below -

1. Super Light and Comfortable.
2. Super Build Quality.
3. Smooth and Easy Connectivity.
4. Good Battery Life.

This product solves my room's network problem. Hence I give it a 4 star!

I purchased this product recently. After a few days of usage I found,
1- Light weight, easy to wear. Good built quality, placement of buttons are also good.
2- Battery life is v.good (I use 2 hrs of music, 1 hr. of calling). it goes for 3 days easily.
3- Sound is clear and audible while on call or playing music files.
4- However, the major problem is the speaker, while on call, I get a lot of complaints from the other end about more background noise that my voice. It seems to attract the background noise more.

So, I suggest, if someone wants to majorly use indoors, a good chose.

No doubt the product is good.I am using this product from 15 days and I want to share the experience. ...
1) sound quality is very good I., e clear and loud.
2) battery backup is also good.
3) pairing is very very easy and when you will go more than 10 m range it automatically reconnected.
4) one and very imp thing is noise cancellation I feel this device is totally failed to filter background sound.
Rest all features are good.
AS USUAL FLIPKART SERVICE IS NOT ONLY GOOD ....ITS EXCELLENT

This is a very good product and I use it regularly with my mobile phone. Unfortunately, it just does not connect to my computer via Bluetooth (although it is detected). It appears a driver is need for this for this, which Samsung does not provide. If anyone can suggest a means to connect this device to my laptop (Dell), that would be great. I want to use the A2DP via laptop to this device.
