Samsung i5801

i am using this phone for almost more than a month.i have read all the reviews and many have said touchscreen is slow. for me its really fantastic. samsung do have fantastic technology to bring innovations at low cost. i am damn sure that a product with all features like this phone from nokia, sonyericsson will cost you 20k bugs. i dont accept the fact that nokia is good in touch screens as the symbian os crumbles with capacitive and multi touch. they dont have much developer support for touch with symbian. have to wait and see how meego goes. i think in this touch screen phase of cell phones only meego s going to save nokia. symbian is good for non-touch handhelds.
problems with this phone i think is poor battery backup, poor sunlight visibility of the screen, mmm .... thats it. if you are ready to bare these above problems, you can buy this blindfolded. flipkart is the one who sells for cheap.

I did buy this gadget 4 days ago and I must admit it is a steal. The features offered by this phone are far more and advance then the ones that are available in this range (Thanks for Andriod Technology). wifi connectivity is so good this small gadget acts like a computer you can play games, listen to music, watch videos phots, etc. The sound quality of this phone is superb and comaparable with Iphone. the screen and the navigation is just similar to the iphone. Samsung has done a pretty decent job and surprisingly costs less. All in all its a amazing phone and I recommend this as a strong buy.................................................

This is my first samsung phone after using 6 of a leading finnish brand.
Have had it for 25 days now and totally happy with it. Few cons though: no secondary camera, no cam flash, poor sunlight visibility, kies is a resource hog.
That said, looks, size, weight, build quality, speed are top class and it has the best feature set for the price. Android Eclair OS is really sweet and yummily intuitive. Excellent choice of apps and games on the Market.
About the battery: Manual says charging complete if indicator stops moving. But charge it till you get a notification message of battery 100% and it should last around 3 days of non-intensive usage.
Great call quality and super sound quality and music player. You dont need stylus as it's a capacitive touchscreen. Android uses Edge and not GPRS so I had to change my talk plan...but neways looking forward to getting 3G :))
Also it comes with a 2gb sandisk card. Getting a larger mem card should not slow perfomance... just a bit longer for media scanning at startup.
Suggest to get a lanyard cable and use it... saved mine from a few slip and falls.

In their quest to make a smartphone, looks like Samsung focussed on "smart" and forgot "phone".

The UI and other Android features are very good but the GSM connectivity is almost nil. The phone drops calls at the best of locations, then refuses to connect to the network, becomes unregistered frequently, goes silent while on the call and so and so forth.

The battery life is very bad. Its on the charge almost all the time.

Very bad experience

Nice phone. Have put a 8gb sandisk card in it.. with almost 5gb of songs in it. Phone takes a bit long time during start up to check all the music in the card, but otherwise have been very pleased with the performance of the CPU with android 2.1
I don't know whether it would remain so responsive if upgraded to 2.2. However, given the small onboard memory, 2.2 would be very important because without that you can't install programs on the microsd memory. You are limited to the 130mb or so onboard memory space.
The android market is great. To truly enjoy it, you have to use it with wifi. GPRS is just not there yet in terms of speed.
The screen resolution is good, but a HVGA resolution would have made it wonderful.
The in-call volume is a bit low. Would have loved a higher volume support. Also have experienced some call drops on the vodafone network in delhi. Never got that problem with a 1800 rs nokia C1 in the same area. Nokia still remains better than Samsung when it comes to working in varying signal areas. Except for the once-in-a-while call drops, have not faced any other issues with this phone. The phone has been satisfying in the smartphone category. Android is a great OS.
