Samsung RV509-A0CIN Laptop (1st Gen Ci3/ 2GB/ 500GB/ DOS)

I've always had laptops of other brands but this is my first Samsung brand.... Awesum product! fast processor.. 2 GB RAM upgradable to 8 GB ..soft Island style Keyboard..bright ,clear and amazing BIG screen! cool Dual Tone color.. average WebCam. with integrated Mic.

First of all I would like to thank Flipkart for their superfast delivery. I ordered it on 21st October morning, and I got it on 22nd October afternoon (voila, so fast !!!). I wonder how they are shipping their products at so blazing fast speeds ! Super-like.
Now coming to the product. I was having a HP DV series laptop prior to this, bought in 2007. This laptop is bit bigger than that, in dimensions, because of the screen size (15.6 compared to 14). However, speed wise, the new one rocks (core i3).

Pros -
Design- Nice and sturdy. Front lid is two-tone metallic with matte finish, scratch proof. Look-wise awesome (not gorgeous, bcoz I only find Macbook Air in Gorgeous section, with lot of expenses)
Screen - Nice HD LED screen. wonderful colours even in daylight. The screen colours appear a little bluish. However, this is corrected in Windows 7 colour calliberation.
Keyboard - Keys are nice and spacious. I am not well versed with Numeric keypad in Laptop, thereby usually press numlock while pressing backspace.
Speakers - Sound is awesome even at high volumes. Clear and noise-free.
Processor and Speed - This the best i3 you can get at this price.

Cons -
Keyboard - There is a design flaw in keyboard Ctrl key. Left Ctrl key is below shift key, where as right Ctrl key is below ? key.
Heat vents - they are more facing downwards. So, sometimes you can't work continuously placing it on your lap.
Wireless On/Off switch - There is no Wireless On/Off switch on this laptop. This I found to be a major setback.

However, overall I am very satisfied with the laptop, as I was looking for a budget Core i3 Laptop, and this fits well to my budget.

Friends do not buy Samsung Laptops
I purchased Samsung Laptop a year ago when they were just launched and trust since the time i purchased i started having battery issues. Battery did not last as claimed for 8 hours. It never gave more than average 4 hours. When contacted the ASC, they didn't had any idea about this product. Now after a year, the battery is completely dead. It does not work without a charger. As the warranty is over, no is ready to get this issue resolved. The customer experience i had with the brand, the people running this brand and the laptop is absolutely disgusting and frustrating. I have never experienced such poor response from any other Brand. After Sales service and customer service is the one has to look for and not just the product. Hence suggest you all to go for other brands than Samsung who does not care for their customers once the product is sold.

I got the Samsung laptop from Flipkart. Superb service and delivery. Got to me in 2 days flat! Online tracking is spot on. They update the consignment fast! And excellent packaging. Samsung's laptops are the best value for money as they manufacture most of the parts themselves, being the largest manufacturers in the world. Quality is not cheap like other brands in this range.
Lid pattern is very attractive with a striped pattern. Pics don't do it justice.
Excellent product. Go for it! You get a Core i3 at a price range at which others give a measly Pentium.

I was looking for a decent laptop with a large screen and Samsung RV 509 seems to fit the bill perfectly. I use Linux in my day to day activities and usually it is a pain to find the right drivers to make sure that Linux works correctly on your hardware. Thankfully, this is one laptop where you do not have to find a single Linux driver as everything seems to work out of the box. A linux lovers dream machine. Build quality is optimal for the price and the chicklet keyboard adds to the already excellent aesthetic appeal of the laptop. Touchpad is a slight downside though. Nevertheless this is one slick machine and flipkart's service is excellent and we have to praise the effort and detail they put into packaging their products.
