Frequently Bought Together With This Mobile
Android is now the king of all mobile operating systems. iOS is not too far behind. Windows phone is gearing up for an attack, bolstered by the new player in its arena. Symbian is dwindling away after a glorious decade or so. Meego is beautiful and yet dead. Did anyone ever notice Bada in the midst of all this??
And yet, 4 inch of SuperAMOLED, fairly slim profile and generous use of metal, all at a nominal price makes Samsung wave III S8600 a tempting package indeed.
Pros:
1. Gorgeous 4” SuperAMOLED screen. SuperAMOLED along with Nokia’s CBD are the best mobile displays in the market today (which obviously includes the retina display).
2. Very appreciable build quality.
3. Excellent battery backup. With moderate usage, 2-3 days may be expected.
4. A wonderful video player. The stock video player plays everything you throw at it, and it supports subtitles too.
5. Good 5MP camera.
6. Bada OS is modeled a lot like Android and hence behaves similarly, which given the current market trend is not a bad thing at all.
Cons:
1. Audio quality is the upper mid range is something that is taken for granted. Samsung wave III however fails to deliver.
2. Video recording isn’t really impressive.
3. Limited 3rd party apps (I am actually being polite in saying only ‘limited’).
4. No GPU. Most mobiles at this price bracket and even those that are cheaper have it.
Competition:
The cons are hardly potential deal-breakers but it all boils down to buying a OS which has only a handful of phones, very limited apps and has been updated only twice in the last 2 years. But then, very unlikely would one disagree that you are getting good value for your money.
Sony Ericsson Ray offers a very capable 8 mp camera with latest android (planned upgrade to ICS). The Sony Bravia display is among the best in LCDs, resolutions Is high as well, although screen estate is small (3.3”). Sony Ericsson Neo V offers a similar package with a downgraded 5 mp camera but a 3.7 inch screen.
Samsung galaxy R I9103 has seen a massive price reduction in the last few months, and is now available at a similar price. It brings a bigger screen and a dual-core cpu (and gpu) to the table. LG Optimus Black and HTC desire are amongst the other once high end phones now available at a similar price.
Samsung Onmia W I8350 offers Windows Phone at a cheaper price, although a smaller 3.7 inch screen, everything else almost remaining same as wave III. Nokia Lumia 710 has been grabbing headlines of late, it might well be worth the look.
Last but not least, lets not forget our good OLD Symbian phones. Nokia 701 might be a tempting package if you are thinking out of android.
Wave 3 has a Qualcomm Scorpion SOC...Clocked at 1.4 GHZ and it features a ADRENO 205 GPU . so i would like to correct info in one of the reviews made earlier by a buyer..
Bada has limited Apps but samsung will merge Bada OS with Tizen and then the its would be backed by Intel and then one can expect some good apps..
I have a Wave II and its a really good phone and having used bada 2.0 , i must admit it has very much improved from the previous iterations
using this phone that a friend of mine has left with me for a week, -- First of all the only short coming of this phone is that it runs on Bada 2.0 samsung proprietary OS. The Bada app market is not as big as the Andriod app market. Installing the bada on this phone makes it slightly underutilise the capabilities of the scorpion 1.4ghz processor. What i thoroughly like is that the phone has a super amoled display nicely nestled between what me thinks is gorilla glass, the gyroscopic rotation of the phone is extremely sensitive, and so are the proximity and ambient light sensors. with the exception of limited apps to download on the phone, especially if you are a chatting and news freak, then you're really missing whatsapp, skype, although yahoo messenger and Window live messenger are pre-installed. using the phone with a 3G connection, and keeping it as a wi-fi hotspot, it did an amazing job, next with the camera, and for all those of you grumbling bout no flash on the I9003, the Wave 3 comes with an led array flash, so small, yet so powerful, shoot a picture with the flash, naaah! not so good, the real test of the camera on this phone is that keeping most settings on auto you get an amazing shot if you set the resolution to 2048x1536, so there you have it apple ipad quality photo's on your bada phone. Seriously you get what you pay for and its =ipad quality at 16000/- on phone running the Bada OS 2.0, very good voice quality. The best part of the AMOLED display is that it self adjust even in bright sunlight and you seriously don't have to strain your eyes to look at whats displayed on the phone screen. Me thinks if you want a good phone to check your emails on the go with Swype style input, check your facebook status, and have business and pleasure side by side singing their song, the Wave 3 is your phone.
The only and possibly the biggest demerit about this wonderful phone is BADA OS.
If you want a good, robust smartphone with great features in this price range then by all means this phone is not a disappointment, but if you like downloading Apps then dont waste your money.
There are good android phones now in this range. Although having said that, this is a great phone for a first time smartphone user or as a gift to an old non-app savvy relative/friend. :)
This phone have got a decent hardware specs with a 1.4 GHz Scorpion Processor, a big 4.0" SUPER AMOLED Display which is the biggest plus of this phone. But all in all, this phone fails in a large way and thats because of the OS it has got. Bada is the most unstable OS I have ever seen. It is horribly slow, repeatedly crashes and the phone hangs, and the phone restarts every now and then without any reason. Added to that, the app store for BAda is horrible, you can hardly get any useful apps for the phone which means the phone's hardware will remain terribly underutilized. Avoid this piece of shit at all cost, at 15k you can get much better phone than this shit. And to Samsung please think of the customers before luring them with these craps. Disappointed in a big way! Will give 1 star overall.
By mistakenly I brought this phone, and this mistake cost me 15k (never ever believe on sales man of croma). this is the worst...
