Good Collection, Albeit Incomplete
Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai is undoubtedly among the best comedy shows ever shown on Indian television. Its a quirky and refreshing take on both the 'middle class' and the 'uptown folks', in the Yes Minister style of comedy to a fair bit.It's great that we finally have the official set of DVDs - is definitely a must have!
The only grouse I have with this set is that it does not have ALL 70 episodes - only 50 (5 per dvd). Quite a few episodes are missing, for instance, Rosesh's Poetry Book Publication, Baldev and Swaroopa's dog Deepender, Maya falls in love, and some more episodes. Can't figure out why they left out the remaining 20 episodes from the dvd set - this is what takes away the one star, otherwise it was 5 stars all the way for me.

Humour in every sense of the term.
One of the most humorous shows to have ever been aired on Indian Television. It generated moments of sheer magic in my life and everyone else's, i presume. The very funny attributes the characters of the show are infused with,along with the brilliantly written dialogues of the show all add to the immense popularity that the show garnered amongst the masses. Truly changed the face of Indian T.V. Sarabhai was a pathbreaker and a trendsetter in every respect.
For every other shows that were aired after Sarabhai, it was difficult to follow fashion and match up to the standards set by Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. I wonder how many of them managed to surpass this. Extremely delighted that the DVD's have released.
Go on, visit the Sarabhais!
uess it wouldn't be incorrect to say that the Sarabhais are Indian telly's most engaging - albeit dysfunctional! - family.
What's the show about?
An extended family of seven, replete with the goofy patriarch, his snooty wife, their two sons (one dutiful, the other a Mama's boy), the middle class daughter-in-law, as well as their daughter and nerdy son-in-law.
What works?
The subtle humour, hilarious dialogues brilliantly delivered, amazing comic timing on part of the entire cast all add up to create what is by far an outstanding show.
The downside?
Err, none. Or possibly the fact that a second season unfortunately never did come up!
Why should you see it?
So if you didn't catch it on the telly, now's your chance to recreate the magic for yourself! Simply put, this show moves away from the crass, in-your-face, loud stuff that 'comedy' shows are (normally) made of. Go on, get yourself a large dose of happiness... now!
The Best Show Ever
For the first time ever,I actually enjoyed watching a TV serial.Obviously,one which combines the talents of Sumeet Raghavan,Satish Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah leaves you with no other option.And it's not even of the type of serials where comedy is generated by showing a lot of characters as a trifle insane.Sarabhai V/s Sarabhai leaves you laughing through some wonderfully created situations.A realistic feel,great actors and probably the best dialogue writers.
In short,I totally love Sarabhai V/s Sarabhai and I do hope they come out with the next season soon.
