imaginative and engrossing
The story takes us into an exciting and very imaginative world, where a great adventure begins. I read it in one sitting (well almost) because I couldn't put it down. The world, the characters, all come alive and fall in place to make up a fascinating story.
The downside? Well, as the first part of a planned trilogy, the story is built up to an interesting point, but left me at a loose end a bit. We will have to wait for the next parts to know what happens next.
