Captain Clyde Odem, U.S. Marine Corps Force Recon, is a handsome and imposing man who draws ladies like catnip, as he does the men with his leadership qualities. He is a member of the Presidentas Elite Staff. His duties include whatever the President requires. Sometimes the President needs deniability, in which case, Clyde is on his own. In his earlier days, he and his sidekick, Gunnery Sergeant Roy Larson, operated behind enemy lines in Vietnam. They were instrumental in rescuing Lt. Col. L. Laughlin, who was shot down flying a mission. Laughlinas dad, a wealthy international banker, is also featured in the story. As the story proceeds, Clyde and Larson retire from active duty but, at the Presidentas request, remain in the reserve and a part of the Presidential Elite Staff. They are called upon to eliminate a Muslim bomb factory in New Jersey and another on the West Coast.
