  • Description

There are many families that have their own share of people who are rebels, adulterers, addicts, ambitious actors, playboys, those that love exotic animals, and some who are mute. This is a story that has characters with traits that are similar, if not the same, as these.

    Summary of the Book

Akola Suresh has recently returned from the US only to find that, in the three years that she has been away, there have been a lot of changes that have occurred in the place that she used to call 'home'. She finds that her parent, who she addresses by their first names, are always bickering about something or the other. Her grandparents are stuck in their old-age eccentricities, her brother is starting to become a rebel, and her little sister dreams of being the next big star in Kollywood. Akola knows one thing for sure: ‘bonding’ is not a word that she would ever use to describe what her family is up to. However, they are going to be forced into living the life of a family when old secrets are revealed and a horrific incident has shaken them all.

    Awesome

Anyone bought up in a joint family will readily empathise with this book. Its fast paced and filled with suspense.

It has the right amount of drama & sentiment without making it a tearjerker.

I just couldn't put it down till I finished it.. I had to know how it ended.

Well-written, light, a really good story about the very recognizable travails of a joint family!

The very catchy title and attractive packaging of the book made me pick it up. And once I started reading it I was completely pulled into the characters' lives and their story. Unlike the not-so-well-written novels selling out there today, this one is solidly good story and very well-written. The characters are easily recognizable - squabbling parents, quirky siblings, aging, eccentric grandparents. They live together under one roof, not quite in harmony with each other. And then the events t...

    Light and entertaining!

No preachy philosophy, heavy politics or unhidden mysteries but, by all means, an extremely well-written book. The author has proven has simple things are indeed the best, as most South-Indians believe. It is one of those stories which starts off as another family drama, but after barely 10 minutes into the book, I couldn't keep it down until I finished devouring it. The characters have their own demons to fight, but it is only after a major life-altering incident and lot of ‘screw-ups’ that ...

    A surprisingly good read

The book starts of light and fun, but by the time you are a third into the story, it becomes impossible to put down. I finished reading the book overnight, just to find out what happened to these characters who seemed so real they could've been from my life. Secrets keep cropping up every dozen pages, and you will keep turning the pages out of sheer curiosity. The title of the book is a little misleading - the book isn't so much about one person screwing up, as it is about a dysfunctional Sou...

    A super-fast great read!

From great little details of a typical South Indian family, to disturbing inner stories of every other profession, the book presents you with a well-spun story that you might closely relate and realize.

It is a serious story teaching you how to become a pro amid all screwed-up situations.

Being a Tamizhian,I enjoyed the book especially when the long south Indian name was modernly shortened and when MS Amma played a vital role in the wake-up call. :D

Waiting for the next book from the auth...
