Seagate Barracuda 500 GB Desktop Internal Hard Drive (ST500DM002)

I haven't bought a hard disk from Flipkart but I've bought and installed literally hundreds of Seagate HDDs. I don't know why some people keep bashing Seagate. Sure, they had that issue with the firmware on their 7200.11 drives, but that was with a short production batch of one particular model and happened some years ago.

Out of the hundreds I installed, only 3 or 4 became defective within 3 years. And those were owned by people who constantly abused their HDDs - improper shutdowns, frequent power outages without a UPS or a spike guard, young people who kept removing the internal drives and carried them around, computers kept on rickety tables that keep getting jolted. It's a testament to Seagate quality that so few drives failed.

My experience has been that other brands have shown many more failures under the same conditions. Of the dozen or so Seagate drives that I've used in my personal machines, none has failed.

Others have criticized Seagate warranty service. I can't comment on that as I've never tried to avail of their services. All the drives that failed had obviously been subjected to improper use and/or the owners had outgrown their capacity anyway, so there was no sense in claiming a warranty.

One thing to note is that cheap ordinary SATA cables, including those bundled with some motherboards, are much more liable to cause problems than the older PATA (IDE) types. This is true of any brand of HDD and such problems are often blamed on the hard disks themselves.

I am writing this review after 3 month cause want to clearfy all my doubt which i read in flipkart review. who ever say but its a very very good product

Received within 3 days after placing the order but the item turned out to be defective .. I've sent multiple emails to flipkart CS but they didn't responded back to my email queries .. Then I decided to contact them over the phone. The phone rep tried some troubleshooting with no luck and immediately created a replacement order to my new address. This time the item delivered within 2 days(It's faster than the original order).
I still did not received any response to my email queries , though the email CS team is not responsive , the CS Phone team changed my opinion and increased level of trust on flipkart services. FlipKart service Rockssss..!

I ordered 2 of these. Both are faulty. One is showing wrong model number in bios and only 4 GB space, other would not let Win 7 install. Each time crashes after reboot "Registry corruped". Although not Flipkart's fault.Waiting for replacement instructions.

the hard disk is of great quality.

it produces very less noise and vibrations.

no disturbance during operation.

i recommend this hard disk to all .
