Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 3.5 inch 2 TB External Hard Disk

I got in about one and a half days , which is really great . The packaging was superb nothing moving inside (which is always good for electronics)

As for the product it self , its working great .
Read/Write speeds are the same as any other external HDD.
It has a detachable lower half , so you can modify it and use other ports such as eSATA , USB 3.0 , FireWire etc (On purchase of the adapters of course!)
The bad?
1)No power button (not a big deal though , you can set it to turn off after a certain period of inactivity)
2)The whole thing seems to topple even with a gentle touch , so you have to be careful there!

The Good?
1) Huge storage for a great price!
2) Changeable adapters for future mods!
3) LED lights indicating disk usage (not a big thing , but something I haven't seen before)

My first hand experience with this prodoct is bad. I've used Seagate Internal 1TB HDDs which work perfectly, bought this one for backups. As soon as I got it, I did an initial backup of about 1.2TB it heated up like 60 degrees and started failing, photos and videos, pdfs got corrupted... sometimes new drives require to be re-formatted but for some reason it failed to reformat as NTFS in my case.

Among all the pros and cons listed by others, please keep the following in mind about this 2TB external HDD:
- Don't use it for regular use, may be backups. Turns out larger HDDs have higher failure rate. After my case, I won't trust large HDDs.
- Go for two 1TB ones instead of one 2TB, costly but isn't your data precious.

Just received the product now and Iam excited to say this product works on my computer. At first I was worried whether it will work on the USB 1.0 or not but it works.Iam happy with the speed with which it operates. It took me 10 minutes to copy 14 GB of files this hard disk.(Imagine how fast would it be if I used 2.0 or 3.0 functionality).

Pros:
1.Works as manufacturer of this product claims.
2.Really fast performance.
3.Works on USB 1.0(It worked for me)

Cons:
1. Weight.It might be heavier for some people.

Finally shipment was fast and satisfied with the service.This product is definitely worth your money!

I recently bought this product for Rs.4717. Guess they reduced the price further after i bought it. Anyway so it arrived neatly packed within 3 days which is really really good!! Most people don't package the product properly and its usually damaged by the time it reaches you.

About the product..well, it's not exactly 2tb. When you plug it in on windows 7 it shows 1.8tb of free space. I quickly found out that the actual size of a 2TB hard drive is 2,000,000,000,000 bytes (yeah, 2 million millions!!), which roughly converts into 1.8ish TB..so yea doubt cleared there.

Transfer rates are a modest 25mbps on my usb 2.0.

It has 4 Leds that show how much of the hard disk is full. The more you fill it up more the number of leds that light up which is a quick way to know how much of free space you have left. It's a very average and primitive estimation but a good feature nonetheless.

I download a lot of stuff online and this is a wonderful backup of all the movies, games etc. To give you a rough estimate I have 500 movies of an average 1 gb size each and that hasn't even made a dent in the space that is still available(Only one led still lights up).
I really recommend buying this if you are a moderate user and down-loader.

Oh and Seagate is much better than transcend, trust me..i had a friend whose transcend hard disk just refused to boot up after 6 months. For lower memory(2gb, 4gb, 8gb sticks) go for transcend but for data storage greater than that..seagate is the best on the long run.

A good buy. Flipkart is building quite a reputation for its service and customer satisfaction. Using it to store hundreds of movies and series that i have got. Working pefectly well.
