Seagate GoFlex Home 2 TB Wireless External Hard Disk

I recently purchased this item though not from Flipkart. My primary reason for buying this product was I wanted a solution to get my Documents and family pictures that I could access from multiple locations especially from Internet and iOS devices. In other words I was looking for a personal cloud solution. I read quite negative reviews about this product as well as WD My Book Live.

I did not find any issue with setup and the drive was up and running in less than 10 minutes with the help of instructions and the accompanying CD.

Pros:
- Hassle free very easy setup process
- A good web interface to upload / download files from web
- Good solution for storing document, pictures on the network
- Additional USB port where an external hard drive can be attached to expand capacity
- Reasonably fit for purpose - Memeo backup software though not great.

Cons:
- Read / write speed is not great especially to stream videos

In my opinion people looking for streaming videos to Smart TVs or tablets through this device might not find this be the perfect solution. Even though I have a high end Linksys router I felt read / write speed was not enough to support streaming of videos. Overall its a good and reliable product if you are looking for a personal cloud solution.

I bought my GoFlex Home 2tB network hard disk from flipkart about 6 months ago... And its been a real disspointment. I wanted to use it to get a wireless solution to use with my iPad, and Macbook Pro at home...so that i can dump my music and my tv shows on an external hard disk but still watch it wirelessly..
Connceting to the device has always been a hassle... I had to buy a new Belkin Router to improve speeds...but its still ridiculously unreliable to connect, and use.
After a few months, the hard disk stopped connecting altogether, and now its pretty much inaccessible, because theres no way to connect it directly to the laptop....you NEED a wifi router to use it.
Now i think im just gonna dump the docking station, and get myself a USB Cradle for Seagte hard disks to access my data. (Which flipkart doesnt seem to have available)...
And this entire Wireless Hard disk exercise seem to have been in vain.

Did a lot of researching and had this product on my personal watchlist for long. This was not available except on Ebay and at expensive rates.. Now this is available on most online Indian sites and could be at a couple of hundreds cheaper there but Flipkart delivery is great so went for flipkart. Product is as expected. I dont see any lag times for the HD videos I stream maybe it depends on the video format, so have not done extensive testing yet. The initial configuration took some time untill i figured it out.
1. Configure HDD like a router and get an IP assigned
2. Access drive like shared folder eg: \\goflex_home and provide group\user and password thats it!
Overall awesome experience..

Hard drive is good with a good build quality

Pros
1. You get a personal cloud of 2tb
2.It is compatible with ipad and google devices so you can play video and songs directly from hard drive without any lag
3. Memeo Backup software is awesome

Cons
1. Transfer speed is slow
2. You can't connect it directly into your laptop. you will require a wifi router
3.Software by Seagate is bit sluggish
4.While playing high defination movies from the hard drive there is definite lag
